I've noticed on my RPi unlike other pictures it doesn't have the pins that are Horizontel and the closest to the RCA jack...

Re: What to do with raspi.co.uk?

Jan Margolius I really love your website, you would definitely be an asset to the project, both artistically and coding-wise. I love your deconstructing 'Oh no you broke my website!' page, I really had a lot of fun with that. I also take on board the idea that maybe the website should be Pi-browser...

OpenBox only has a right click menu, FluxBox is a good alternative to LXDE/OpenBox.

I would love to be involved! Maybe a deviantart image board would be popular? Futuba is relatively lightweight.

http://boards.4chan.org/g/ Is the technology board on 4chan. I don't recommend basing the sites morals on theirs though!

Bloody Red PWR light :(

I was running my Pi headless connecting to it via SSH and I shut it down using:
sudo shutdown -h now

I came back later and turned it on and only the red PWR light was on and the ACT light is faint green.

Forbidden CUPS

I connect to my RPi (192.168.0.17:681) And I have my printer connected via USB to the Pi as it is running headless. XBMC Crashes on exit! halp me!

I load XBMC up from the console using exec 'path-to-xbmc' but when I try to exit XBMC it crashes and only a hard reboot and get the Pi up and running again. I'm running Raspbian wheezy on a Model B RPi. :D

Re: My findings on the use of fans with the Raspberry Pi

Per this thread: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2758 the Broadcom BCM2835 system-on-a-chip (SoC) is rated at least -40 to +80 C and the LAN/USB controller is rated at 0 to +70 C. As also discussed in that thread, the ambient temperature could get to upwards of +120 C before t...

My findings on the use of fans with the Raspberry Pi

With the arm_freq running at 700MHz I found no repercussions or benefits of using a small fan in the underside of my case propelling air through 6 small holes. The RPi's average temperature started off at around 31.5*C. After powering the fan up, it stayed at around the same temperature but I notice...

I assume that red = +ve and black = -ve so they must just be power cables. I thought that the GPIO could provide 5v.

I would assume you would type

Code: Select all

xbmc
If that doesn't work, type xbmc then hit tab twice and it will show you the options that start with xbmc.
Ok :)

Raspbian + XBMC = LAAAAAAAAAAG.

I installed XBMC on my Raspberry Pi running Raspbian. It is horribly slow loading menus and very jumpy and glitchy. I presume this is because I am also running the X.org server in the background. Can I run XBMC standalone from the console without having to load X.org (startx) as well?
