This a sad day, my Pizero W (oldest one) died!

This a sad day, my Pizero W (oldest one) died! My PiZero W, is a bit (no pun) long on the tooth, 2 or 3 years or so now? I got right when the Pizero W first was released. I inserted card, powered it up, no joy. I noticed it was very hot. As I understand it, this a know issue. And there is no recover...

For now, I am not going to use dtoverlay for most of my sensors

For now, I am not going to use dtoverlay for most of my sensors. This is a decision that I have come to with significant regret. The number of times I get remote IO errors the dtoverlays is significantly higher than other methods available. For example, a typical BME280 sensor, with python based que...

Reading LM75X, i.e. LM75A product id?

I can't seem to find an example of how to read the onboard chip product id code for a LM75 series sensor. Per the datasheet, if should be register 07h (0x07), i.e. 111. And returns 1 byte. But when I do the read of the 1 byte, it is always 255 or 0xFF. This does not seem correct. Datasheet https://w...

US-100 Sonic Sensor What Voltage Is Echo Pin?

I know the SRF04, and I think the SRF05, if powered by 5v, the echo pin is greater than 3.3v, so you have to logic step it down to 3.3v, via a divider or such. But what about the newer US-100? The documentation I have found just says the VCC can be 2.4v to 5.5v. But no voltage for the echo pin is re...

Anyway to reset a dtoverlay driver other than reboot?

I am using dtoverlay method to read data from a bme280 sensor. This works, but once in a while, randomly, after several hours, issues result. For example, today I could read temperature and pressure from the bme280 sensor, but trying to read relative humidity from the bme280 sensor stopped working, ...

Re: Request adding additional sensors to dtoverlay sensor supported list?

I can test most of these as needed if you need someone to help test. I am also familiar with C programming (not C# or C++)... which seems to be(coming) a lost art now? Other than when developing firmware images for ESP nodes (8266, 32, etc.) and Arduino micro controllers.

How does dtoverlay support for sensors handle i2c address duplicates?

How does dtoverlay support for sensors handle i2c address duplicates? I say duplicates because I have a scenario where Pi A may have a SI7020 sensors and Pi B may have a HTU21D sensor. Both of these sensors use the same i2c address, which is 0x40. I would like to have one consistent config.txt file,...

Pi4 runs fine for several weeks, then eth0 just disappears? The wlan0 interface seemed to be unaffected. It was simple to recover, just ifconfig eth0 down/up. Has anyone else seem this behavior? Only one of the 3 Pi4 devices I have has done this so far.

Re: Is there a way to get the hardware and software bit length from the pi its-self?

Thanks everyone, I think getting the revision info and parsing it, is the best method, based on everything I have read, to determine if the given Pi is 64 bit capable. Then of course query the OS to see if it is 32 or 64 bit variant.

Is there a way to get the hardware and software bit length from the pi its-self? For example Pi maybe ARM v7 and 64 bit hardware, but could be running only a (older) 32 bit (length) OS image. To upgrade from stretch to buster, is this not the correct steps? 1. Edit source files to reflect buster rather than stretch 2. Execute apt update 3. Execute apt upgrade 4. Odd result from node.js os module for processor speed?

I have been trying to resolve why the node.js os module returns what appears to be half of the maximum processor speed. For example on a raspberry pi 4, the maximum processor speed is 1500, but as noted the os module reports only 750. I know for a fact this is not the current frequency which is 600:...
