Re: Broadcoms response w/ regards to their Android
This was posted in our IRC-channel early this morning (CEST): http://www.pastebin.ca/2374548 Food for thought, at the very least. Also note that I will be putting in a number of hours on this project Wednesday to Friday of this week, and as such I invite anyone that can help (and people who just wa...

Re: whic android works better on rasperry
For most people running .apk files from android market would be enough. With the pre release of JavaFX, most android apps will be easy to convert form source. Theoretically the android API should be possible to translate into a JavaFX set of runtime classes and an install script. The problem then b...

Re: how to configure a .iso to .img and run it on the pi
You cannot just simply rename the file extension, you need to convert the image.
It will not work anyway because the original is only intended for Intel and/or AMD, not Armv6.

Re: OpenSuSE 12.3 betta-test Images
Why such an old kernel? Is there a technical limitation requiring it? The reason I ask is that I have a 32GB SD card that I want to try OpenSUSE on. When you say it won't work do you mean it won't work at all, or that it will treat it like a 16 GB card? Thanks. I had serveral SD card Corruped with ...

Re: Project: Android JB 4.1 with Hardware acceleration
The issues are most likely to be caused by mali.ko, ump.ko and gralloc.default.so, the .KO files are from the kernel and the .so file is from /system/lib/ so from the looks of it, you have to replace a few files from the kernel. Might I inquire as to where you got that information? mali.ko is a ker...

Re: Android slow
AFAIK custom ROMs always rely on the fact that the manufacturer did the work of GPU acceleration. And every serious mobile phone manufacturer does that. Then you can simply copy binaries from the original firmware. That is completely different if the device was never a mobile phone , but has powerf...

Re: Android slow
They have , but Android needs still some other parts to work with the GPU. For example a so-called gralloc module. All in all it is simply a big task to get Android hardware-accelerated. Mobile phone manufacturers an simply pay a horde of developers to do this over some months , the Razdroid guys c...

Re: Android On RasPi
My LG GT540 is running Android 4.1 (CM10 AOKP) with 156 MB of RAM, 600 MHz CPU using Armv6.
It does lag a little but it is different on a tablet UI since it has more rendering to do in a display with more components.
