Re: CEC Remote Keymap the easy way..

Just wanted to say thanks for this great tip! I didn't even know this Keymap Editor addon existed. This will make my life so much easier going forward! :-)

Re: Best disk format for external drives?

Ah thanks, I'll try that! Yes, some of them are quite old so may well be Xvid or other codecs from that era....but they play fine on XBMC on my other devices (XBox, Macintosh etc) so I don't really know why it'd be different on RasPi....??

Re: Best disk format for external drives?

Thanks guys! I've gone with FAT32 and it seems to be working okay. I realise it might be lower performance than the Linux format but it seems to be high enough for watching 1080p H.264 movies so I'm happy. The only weird issue I'm having is that some of my .AVI files play audio only with no video (t...

Best disk format for external drives?

I'm running OpenElec XBMC on my Raspberry Pi and I want to load an old 1TB USB HDD up with videos etc. to use my Pi as an 'always on TV channel' playing all my favourite shows on a loop. I'm just wondering what the best disk format for the hard drive is? It's currently ExFAT as I run both Mac and PC...

Re: Raspberry Pi is running with power unplugged??

Haha yes there is a powered USB hub in play. I had no idea it could take power through the other USB ports. Really freaked me out! I've plugged the usual micro USB supply in too now, just in case...

Raspberry Pi is running with power unplugged??

My RasPi is currently booting/running without the power supply being connected. Should I be worried??

What to do when RPi crashes?

I'm experiencing a lot of crashes and being forced to reboot the system. My workflow currently goes something like this: Work > crash > cycle power > work > crash > cycle power > SD card is corrupted > re-install image > work > crash etc..... So I'm wondering, not so much how to make RPi crash less,...

Removing apps/running new apps/shortcuts?

Very new to Debian/Raspbian but have managed to install some apps (VLC, XBMC, etc). A couple of Qs: My Wheezy install of Raspbian apparently came bundled with some apps I probably don't need, like Scratch (a games maker??). How do I go about removing apps like this? Where are they located in my file...

Re: Resize partition left me with tiny root folder??

Ok, perhaps I'll just do this. Am I still able to install RaspBMC or XBMC as an app under Raspbian instead of the 'dual boot' method?? This might work out better for me in the long run....

Re: Resize partition left me with tiny root folder??

Ah I see.... well typing 'sudo raspi-config' gets me: sudo: raspi-config: command not found Is this just the same config program that I can access by clicking the shortcut on the desktop?? Also, now that I've run the resize option in that config program, my SD card shows it has 29GB free space, but ...

Re: Resize partition left me with tiny root folder??

Thanks, RaTTuS; what will this do exactly? And will it matter that I've already run the setup tool to enlarge my SD card partition?? Or is that necessary anyway?

Re: Resize partition left me with tiny root folder??

It's Raspbian; I'm running a dual-boot image but trying to install more apps on the Raspbian side, but it's telling me I'm running out of space in the root folder and when I'm running the setup config utility thing to enlarge my SD card partition it seems to be making the SD card bigger but the 'roo...

Re: Resize partition left me with tiny root folder??

Ok, so I had another look after trying to install the app I was trying to install came back with a 'ran out of space' message, and now it looks a bit different: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on rootfs 1.8G 1.8G 0 100% / /dev/root 1.8G 1.8G 0 100% / tmpfs 24M 220K 23M 1% /run tmpfs 5.0M 0 5...

Genius! Thanks. Not sure where I read that first command......

Is it fairly easy to set RasPi to a static IP so I can always SSH to it? Guess it's probably covered somewhere on these forums already.....

Resize partition left me with tiny root folder??

I installed Raspbian and ran the config as was suggested. I used the tools to resize my SD card partition but when I went to install an app it told me I only had about 90MB free in my root folder.... When I inspect the SD card in file manager it seems like the partition resize thing worked, as I've ...
