Re: Raspberry Pi 2 doesn't boot, original Model B does

Thanks for the replies, I was able to get the card to work using the proper distribution. Now I'm waiting for another card so I can set up the Raspbian OS.

Thanks again!

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 doesn't boot, original Model B does

I have a new Raspberry Pi 2 which I cn't get to work. I get no activity on the startup LEDs (Only the red light is lit, no blinking green light). I tried using the same SD card/power supply with one of my older model B, and everything works properly. I tried with 2 different power supplies, with th...

Re: Camera case idea

The camera has a switch which keeps the shutter open as long as you hold the lever down, I would make sure that this option was always switched on. You would just have to keep holding down the lever until the picture was taken (perhaps adding an LED to signal when the picture was taken). This would...

Re: Camera case idea

I've got a similar brownie, in good working order, And i think the shutter would be too fast to properly match the camera and the shutter properly. Camera case idea

I used to collect old cameras a long time ago, and have a few of these that I am thinking would make a great case for a pi/camera combination: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Pj7OPFYOeCM/TOfDkpaHxiI/AAAAAAAAAI4/OuGHVCE-yEs/s1600/Kodak+Brownie.jpg I believe it should have enough room for a pi and battery p...

Re: Keyboard not working

I received my RPi today and excitedly got it out of the box and put it in the case I ordered to go with it. I connected it to a keyboard, mouse and a monitor via an HDMI to VGA converter (and a KVM switch). I connected the keyboard and mouse via the KVM to start with. I started it up and it started...

Re: Camera module! (And a picture of JamesH)

You haven't yet said (1) what the costume will be and (2) where the button is that they will push! 1 - it will be an actual Photo Booth- I tend to do large, elaborate costumes (in years past, I have made a working slot machine and a working crane game ). I want it to look as much like the real thin...

Re: Camera module! (And a picture of JamesH)

I may not use a monitor, that will depend on many things - Just a suggestion - how about a speaker? Either beeps or a spoken countdown (synthesised or pre-recorded). That way you won't get people looking off to the monitor or LEDs at the crucial moment, which let's face it is guaranteed to happen t...

Re: Camera module! (And a picture of JamesH)

My plan is similar - show a live image, with a LED countdown to show when the picture is about to be taken Please excuse my question but why the LEDs? Surely the countdown could be superimposed by software on screen, saving a whole bunch of hardware. I may not use a monitor, that will depend on man...

Re: Camera module! (And a picture of JamesH)

Another idea i had, although I doubt it would be feasible, would be to look for a very small printer (possibly a label printer) to actually print out the resulting photos. Alternatively, have a smaller label printer print out a code or something, so that the person can find the photo. If it's at a ...

I always understood the boards all had 'Made in the UK' screen printed on them and the Chinese factories put a sticker over it. It's maybe missing it's sticker. I have at least one that has 'Made in China' printed directly on the board, not a sticker. This one came from Allied. I can't check the oth...

Nice case! Although I think the Raspberry logo is a bit too open. I could see myself dropping a screw in it :o Thank you, cyrano! This is for example I can make everything with the lid. It's just to present you the project. Add a little fine mesh screening to the inside of the lid. Paint it red & g...

Re: Composite output quality

The composite quality depends on the TV/monitor you are using. I get similar results with one of my TVs (and an identical model TV I tried in my office break room)- looks like the first image. Both are a small 19" Panasonic CRT. My other TV looks much better, also a CRT, a larger 32" Sony. Haven't t...

Re: Camera module! (And a picture of JamesH)

I am getting married in June. I had previously written a photo booth app in Adobe AIR to capture images, but ran into some stability issues and just general wonkiness, in addition to being limited to about 1600x1200 image capture size. As far as we know, would this module be able to accomplish the ...

I'm eagerly waiting for the next issue as well. I read through the existing issues while waiting for my pi(s) to arrive, and now that I have them, I need to start going back through them again. One of my projects when I get time is to create the battery power supply in one of the back issues (I have...

Re: Wireless keyboard/mouse - WIFI capable?

I was under the impression that wireless keyboard and mouse were either Bluetooth or RF ! I figured that the technologies probably weren't the same (some are probably mislabled wireless), but I have seen items listed as 'WIFI' which seem to be what I am asking about, notably this mouse: http://www....

Wireless keyboard/mouse - WIFI capable?

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any keyboard/mouse combinations which can work over a WIFI connection? I am using an Edimax WIFI adaptor, and would like to be able to use that to connect with a keyboard if that was in any way possible (don't know if the technologies can be made to work to...

Ok I'll wait for March. If its any encouragement I'll probably down for at least 20 of those modules and Pis together. I'm very much looking forward to it and I'm sure there are many other people too. Thanks! We reckon the camera module will be pretty popular, and by the time it comes out, we hope ...

Re: RPi not suitable as a media center

I'd agree with the fact that there are caveats to consider, I think that the title of this thread may be more appropriate that the RPi is not 'ideal' as a media center. If someone was considering the RPi solely as a media server, there are definitely better alternatives. There is certainly a lot tha...

Re: RPi not suitable as a media center

When I first found out about the Pi, and placed my order for my first one, I had no idea that it could even be used as a media server. I have a few projects which it may be very suitable to, especially once the camera module is available. To me, being able to repurpose it as a media server when thos...
