Re: Adafruit_CharLCD fails due to get_platform_gpio error. Help!

Thanks for your reply.

Your mention that the Adafruit code had been updated made me think about it a bit more. I had only updated the Adafruit_CharLCD packages. I updated the Adafruit_GPIO package as well and the problem was resolved.

Re: Help needed - boot problems

Might the restoration of the backup work if you restore to a target microSD card that is 'one size larger' than the original? (ie. if your original was an 8G card will it restore correctly to an 16G card?) Thanks for your reply. SD card and image are 64GB, really not wanting to go out and buy a 128...

Help needed - boot problems

I have managed to get myself into a right mess. A few days ago I got my Pi out for the first time in a while wanting to play some retro games. Everything was working just fine until I decided to do some updates. The SD card I have was set up with Raspbian Wheezy distribution. After updating RetroPie...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 2 Q&A thread

I currently have a Model B that I have set up for media and gaming, as well as a bit of development (also have LCD display attached). I was hoping I could just swap this out for the Pi 2. Am I able to just copy the SD card I am using for the Model B to a micro -SD for use on the Pi 2, or do I need t...

Re: A couple of sound issues with RetroPie

Thanks for the advice. I have switched over to use PiSNES and things are much better now. No lag and the sound is perfect. However, I still have the problem where sometimes when exiting one of the emulators, including PiSNES, all audio is gone completely. I cannot even play a test sound at the promp...

How to repair raspian?

After about 4 months of no use I fired up my Pi today. The first thing that I did after booting was to run 'apt-get update' followed by 'apt-get upgrade'. The upgrade took a really long time, almost an hour. I appeared that almost everything was being upgraded, including the kernel. During the upgra...

MAME ROMs won't load with RetroPie

I spent a good part of today installing Retro Pie. I am however having trouble with the MAME emulator. All the ROMs in the .../mame/r...

Re: XBMC stole my desktop. Help!

OK. I fixed my problem. I had to login via SSH from my laptop and edit the .dmrc file in the home directory of user 'pi'. The default desktop had been set to XBMC. I changed this back to LXDE and rebooted and things went back to normal. What would be nice is if it was possible to have a logout optio...
