Re: Can no longer compile kernel modules on Raspbian with RPi 1B

Thank you! Indeed, with the kernel source code fetched by rpi-source I can successfully compile my module. However, my understanding was that rpi-source should no longer be necessary for building kernel modules now that raspberrypi-kernel-headers exists (unless someone is using a newer kernel fetche...

Can no longer compile kernel modules on Raspbian with RPi 1B

I have trouble compiling out-of-tree kernel modules on my 2012 Raspberry Pi 1B. The system is a fresh installation of Raspbian. I have updated and upgraded all packages on the system, and installed the raspberrypi-kernel-headers package. uname -r gives 4.14.79+ . The directory /usr/src/linux-headers...

Re: insmod fails for a simple kernel module hello.ko

Must be a Raspbian problem, the same module runs fine on the same kernel version on Arch.

Re: Arch hangs on boot at vchiq_get_state

I had the very same problem after a rpi-update with branch=next. Removing the cma lines from the config.txt solved the problem. The rpi has been rebooted with a soft "reboot".

Re: SD card copy protection

In deed I see legal issues here. As Linux is licensed under the GPL, you'll have to publish any modification to the kernel as source code, as soon as you make the binary public. Yet I induced that the latter is what you plan to do, because if you didn't plan to distribute the SD-card you wouldn't ne...

Re: DVB-T UK all 6 muxes with TVHeadend

Hi, sorry for not being 100% on topic (I haven't used Tvheadend yet), but maybe that helps you. I've recently been using this DVB-T USB stick (runs out of the box with raspian updated to the 3.8 kernel), that has hardware PID filtering, though I haven't used the latter. When streaming a single singl...

Re: Can the RPi utilise a USB Blu-ray player?

I've just tested whether the RPi is capable of playing BluRays. While omxplayer is perfectly capable of playing a BluRay quality m2ts stream, the data rate produced by the libbluray example program "libbluray_test" is only about 2.6MB/s when running standalone, utilizing about 100% of the CPU on a n...
