I'm in the same boat, I'm looking at buying batteries for a Pi laptop, but haven't got a clue what sort of performance I would get. There are devices on the market that use batteries to charge mobile phones in emergencies (via USB/microUSB) but I'm not sure they have the grunt to power a Pi and ther...

I'm not too sure about this, but I do know some USB hubs don't work.

Check http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeriphera ... d_USB_Hubs and see if your hub is listed

Adafruit sell a nice little battey pack for the Pi, might be worth a look even as a comparison to other battery packs.
