Re: TCP Smart Bulbs

Let me share some of my Tuya device mods experience which works for me. I used a WRT router with tcpdump running during the smart life app with Tuya device registration to get the the key. Once that is done, I block the Tuya device going out to the internet. I then use node-red to manage the Tuya de...

Re: Buster does not come with nodered ? please help !!!

Tried the link several time to do the install, and it does not work. I think the main issue is npm version. Raspbian Stretch ( Version 9) comes with a higher version of npm than X86 buster (Version 10). I have not try Raspbian buster yet .. For X86 buster(V10), npm -- version 5.8.0, node --version 1...

Any one has managed to install nodered successfully on buster ? Will the next version of buster comes with nodered? Thanks...

Try to look for a converter with 5.2/5.3 volts output and monitor the voltage with a USB pass through voltage monitor. Have fun with your project.

Re: [NOOB] Light control - where to start?

My approach is make it simple. Once the code is learnt, you can then do automation without the original RF keyboard. You can even use your TV remote, or pir to control the RF light too. If you plan to add more RF switches/lights , all you need to do is learn the code, and then ready to go. No need t...

Hi, this link- http://blog.videgro.net/2016/01/raspber ... l-sockets/ should provide you the basic info to control the light. YMMV. Next thing is to do is set it up with automation software like node-red , and/or homeassistant. Enjoy.

Re: PSU w/multiple 12v & 5v outlets for Pi and Peripherals.

Hi, try the following link for info - https://www.3dhubs.com/talk/thread/which-power-supply. Do not know anyone sell ready made cables, but you can try to ask some handy person to make it for you. All it needs is to short out 1 pin, and make your own cables for 5V, ad 12V. Be very carefully with vol...

Re: Wifi connection unstable

You may want to try to connect the Pi to a different router, to see if it can improve the performance. From my experience, a router with external antenna works far better than one with internal antenna with the same setup, 3 feet apart. That is my 2 cents.

How about a bluetooth/RF button communicate with a pi , and have pi to do the notification. In this case, the button can last for months without changing battery. Something like bluetooth/RF button -> pi with node-red, and MQ --> phone/TV ....

The only thing I can think of is no free memory left. You add a 1gB swap file, to see it address the problem. Have fun with your pi.

Re: Putty can't login

You need to provide all the IP address, and port number involved for forum member to understand your issue. You can access the pi via ssh using external, and android phone( using external ip, I guess). So, your firewall is setup properly for internet access, but not necessary internal network access...

Thanks for the link, Dougie. I have read it several time, and still could get it working. Headless system shutdown is possible with Apache. You can build a php page with a button to create a file on /tmp, and use crontab to monitor /tmp. Cron can then perform the shutdown when file is found.

Dougllas6 is right that he is very active in helping out with Bluetooth related question, and extremely helpful. But Q&A does not have to be resolved, like this case. Since the Pi 3 is built with Bluetooth hardware, it would be nice to see what the Pi3 hardware architect has in mind when he choose t...
