Looking forward to it. Also if you could give power draw numbers while playing the game that would be cool as well.

Performance of TFT Display 320 x 480 using emulators

On the Adafruit website they do not recommend using a 320 x 480 tft screen for emulation. Has anyone tested the performance of these screens using emulators? I am curious to know the difference.
Thanks

Re: Fast booting buildroot based libretro emulator

Yes please try to contribute to the project. You can add those packages yourself. The whole point of the buildroot system is to have it build the packages for you! It does the heavy work for you and for others! Then others can come and customize the system they want to run! Want only SNES just take ...

EDIT: Description in your page on GitHub https://github.com/rmaz/rpi-emulator-buildroot is very clear, thank you! :) But at this point it would useful a short tutorial on how to add libretro .so cores as buildroot packages? ;) This could be positive for image customization, IMHO. Re: Fast booting buildroot based libretro emulator

Hey all, I was getting annoyed with the length of time it took to start up my pi for a quick SF2 battle, so decided to invest some time making a simple buildroot based image with RetroArch and Emulation Station. I just released a 0.1 version over here: https://github.com/rmaz/rpi-emulator-buildroot...

Re: Fast booting buildroot based libretro emulator

Mr Monotone By 'not working' I mean that there simply isn't any video or sound output. I just get a black screen and then have to boot back to Emulation Station. Try playing the games I mentioned. That is something that @pi_based_entity would have to deal with. I do not know the inter workings of e...

Re: Fast booting buildroot based libretro emulator

I noticed that the controls for Mario All-Stars are non responsive in ARMSNES. Is this a bug that can be fixed? I also noticed some games don't work like Actraiser, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country 2 etc. Do you know why? The controls are not setup properly for every input device. That is what ...

Re: Fast booting buildroot based libretro emulator

Okay I am really confused now. When I go to look at all the libretro cores I expected to see one of each system. e.g. one gba, one snes, one nes, etc. However that was not the case... When I was looking at the GBA emulators there are four of them... I do not understand why there are four of them. It...

Re: Fast booting buildroot based libretro emulator

I would definitely not disregard libretro cores on the basis of performance. Retroarch is a well designed frontend, with optimised video and audio output, and is a sensible common platform to base work on. It also handles the mess of having to configure your input devices and video and audio setup ...

Note to all I have GBA support working. It will be patched today or tomorrow. I just have not pushed my changes yet because I am working on doing some tidying up. Anyone have any suggestions on what emulator they would like next? Maybe N64?

Buildroot package can not find SDL Library

Hell I am trying to create a buildroot package however, whenever I try to compile it the application says no such file or directory #include "SDL.h" here are the project files. You can find a link to the application I am trying to package on there as well. https://github.com/MrMonotone/rpi-emulator-...

Re: Fast booting buildroot based libretro emulator

I suggest you check out retropie setup by petrockblog for raspbian. It has some emulators that are optimized for just the pi that provide better performance that the ones provided in retroarch. It would be cool to add some of those if you want. Looks really interesting might just add them myself . W...

Keep your money and use this: https://github.com/petrockblog/RetroPie-Setup Follow the instructions to the letter and you will be fine. There probably a guide on the forums somewhere as well. Part of having a pi is learning to research for yourself and learn. Others will help just you have to put in...

Is the emulation optimization over?

I am no way even remotely clued in to how far or how much emulation has matured on the RPi. My question is very uneducated but, I would like to learn more. A couple questions I have: Will the RPi ever be able to run games like Yoshi's Story at full speed or N64 games too? What allows developers to m...

Re: A Newbie's Guide to Setting up RetroPie [IP]

Is your xbox controller connected directly to the RPi? I have a Logitech "xbox-like" that requires 500 mA but it seems the RPi cannot power it properly. Have you had any problems with your controller? Do you know how much power it requires (should be on the back somewhere)? I have my SNES emulator ...
