This looks very cool, I will give it a try. I was thinking of creating a very basic operating system for the RPi myself, just for fun, but I didn't find any documentation about how to set up a basic framebuffer. How did you do that? Is there any documentation about it, other than the source code of ...

I don't have my Raspberry Pi in front of me right now to test it, but I believe that changing /etc/X11/default-display-manager to be empty should also prevent slim from starting.
