Re: Automatic Number Plate Recognition

I haven't had a chance - I've been diverted off onto non-Pi related projects by my better half!
But it's something I would be interested in doing in the future. Have you experience in doing this?

Re: mmal: failed ENOSPC

Ok, I'll tighten that up and let you know.
Are there any plans to prevent the need for a reboot when the camera is inadvertently accessed by more than one process?

Re: mmal: failed ENOSPC

Fairly sure - you can see in my script that I touch a $INUSE file before raspivid and remove it afterwards, and the whole thing is wrapped in a conditional statement which doesn't enter if the file exists. I suppose there is an edge case whereby two instances of the script could arrive at the if sta...

Re: mmal: failed ENOSPC

:( Basically, I have motion software running on a different linux device (non Pi), which calls the script below when a motion event is detected. Provided the camera isn't already in use (I capture snapshots occasionally), and hasn't been activated for the last 20 seconds, it calls raspivid for a 20 ...

Yes, it is working fine now.
Is there anything you want me to do in case it happens again? Such as turn on verbose information?
I'll report back here if it does re-occur.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition

I'm considering a project to use the Pi + cam + gps, in car to do automatic number plate recognition. Has anyone got any experience of doing this? I also wondered about the legalities (in the UK) of uploading the data to the web to make it searchable by anyone. If enough people contributed, it could...

Re: Shooting video gives bad quality video an crashes networ

I'm getting similar issues both with banding on the video, and subsequent ssh/scp causing the Pi to die (there's a couple of other threads about it). I'm guessing you're using a WiFi dongle?? The current suspicion is that it's down to the power supply. I've tried a couple of different ones, but both...

Re: Flashing band across video

I tried with a 2A rated power supply this morning, and it still gave the same result.
The Pi and camera are well away from other power and devices, so I'm a bit bemused. Unless it's got something to do with the wireless dongle...

Re: Flashing band across video

Could someone who has experienced this banding have a quick look at this video and see whether it's likely to be the power supply that is causing it?

Re: Automate timelapse

I was also considering whether there some way of starting scripts from an app on my Android phone, perhaps over bluetooth, but unsuccessful so far. The best I could find was to turn the Pi into a wireless access point and see if I can ssh in that way from my phone. But that would be a bit clunky.

Re: Automate timelapse

I would use a cron job for this. It only has a granularity of a minute, but you could use it to check that the process is running, and if not, fire it up again.

Re: Rasbpistill fails with ENOSPC

I've got the same error tonight.

I'm wondering if it's to do with 2 sessions running raspistill at the same time. I've got a cron jon running every minute taking a snapshot, and was experimenting with timelapse on the command line when it happened.

Date/time print on images

I assume raspistill can't do this at the moment, so can anyone recommend some suitable software to add the date/time that the photo was taken to one corner of the jpg? Can this be added as an option to raspistill in the future? How do we recommend new features, and how often will new builds be made ...
