Apologies, I assumed you were using RetroPie. I believe Mednafen also Emulates the Sega Master System and Game Gear although I am not sure of its performance.

There are other Emulators in RetroPie for the Master System if that's what you are asking e.g. PicoDrive,

Welcome to the Forum! With Emulation it is always best to have the most powerful base hardware to be the 'Host' system so I would suggest a Pi3.

Re: Can the Raspberry Pi 3 Emulate PS2?

RaspberryPiHobbyist Welcome to the Forum! Unfortunately a 'cluster' would not increase computational power for an emulator unless specifically programmed for purpose which is very doutfull. seandiggityd Welcome to the Forum! Laws differ from Country to Country but essentially in most sharing ROMS/Images is illegal due to copyright infringement although Emulators are not (this has been proven in Court litigation e.g. Sony vs Bleem) which is why Emulation sites and RPi Images (i.e. Retro...

WOW! This is an old thread! I haven't tried it on the Pi3 but it worked like a dream on the Pi2 The latest Advance 3.5 has Advmame/Mess and Menu in one folder, it compiled with a straight configure, make make install on the latest version of Raspbian 2017-07-05 but it seems you have to even manually...

Your going to need a USB Hub as I believe MAME doesn't reinitialize on Insertion/removal of a Pad unlike some Emulators/Operating Systems, so you will need the Keyboard and JoyPad attached.

No Probs! Glad to be of assistance. Sounds like you have set output to ALSA which is the best/most accurate sound dependency in most cases.

Re: Emulation on the RPi: Updated 09/05/2017

Which is better and smooth gameplay for dos emulation in your option, rpix86 0.19 (last build) or dosbox 0.74 (last build)? In the early days of the Pi rpix86 was significantly faster for titles such as Doom/Magic Carpet and X-Wing* on the Pi1 as it was an Optimized version of the then current DosB...

Sunburst275 Welcome to the Forum. How did you install RetroPie? It seems many problems that are posted here are due to installation. I always use the RetroPie installer rather than the downloadable SD Card Image from which I have never had any issues. It also has the advantage that the FULL Raspbian...

countzero99uk RetroPie is pretty straightforward, there are plenty of Tutorials available on UTube to assist in its use/set-up. The Pi3 can easily Emulate the Systems you quote along with some more recent ones right upto the Dreamcast/PSP which although not 100% in terms of performance, certain Titl...

Re: Megadrive emulation on original RPi

charco Neil's right a good size Class 10 SD Card would/should counter any issues your having and if you DO go down the SD Card Image route RetroPie/PES should run most Systems upto 32X which is too slow, at least on RetroPie. Additionally some PlayStation and N64 Titles will run OK, but not fullspee...

MegaDrive Emulation is fine on the Original Pi which negates the need for a Pi Zero. I would advise a version of PicoDrive which is the best overall MegaDrive/Genesis Emulator available for the Pi. Personally I would start with a stock Raspbian Image, download and use the retropie_setup.sh script . You can then add just the elements you require from RetroPie.

Re: Best Distro for Gaming.

It looks like OpenGL is the issue which doesn't work on the Pi. The programs need to be OpenGLES or SDL. OpenGLES is the better Option which prevents 'Tearing' of textures/scrolling (or SDL2.0). Unless you prefer writing lots of scripts for different Emulators in an image (my preferred Method to Squ...

Interpreting what your saying a friends SD Card Image worked fine on your Pi but the SD Card your using doesn't? That certainly sounds Card related as you have surmised. I always try and stick to 'Make' brands like SanDisc as they are more robust/reliable for constant re-flashing of the SD Card whic...

So as I assumed, its sort of like an SD Card Image, self contained (e.g. RetroPie etc). Hopefully I can test it in the next few days, then I will pm you to confirm your happy with the Article once posted. Seems there are only positives from the postings here, can't wait to try it myself!
