Re: How do I get noobs?

I'm just being practical/pragmatic. No, not really. You are being "Wrong". Yes, some people understand when people say "Raspbian" they actually mean Raspberry Pi OS. When we release a 64 bit OS, that distinction becomes all the more important. We do not use the word "Raspbi...

Re: Can't force upgrade of EEPROM on Pi 400

@Cloudcentric: I did a full-upgrade a few days ago. I have Raspberry Pi Imager v1.6.2, which is what it gave me. Here is a screenshot of my options: 2021-09-18-124720_680x420_scrot.png As far as I can tell, these options let me choose where to boot from, and nothing more. At any rate, when I insert...

Thanks to the person who flagged this up, I've asked the appropriate engineer to confirm what should and shouldn't happen in this case. It's the weekend, so don't expect an instant response.

The terms can be (and are) used interchangeably.
They may be used interchangeably by some, but that is wrong. Raspbian is SPECIFICALLY the ArmHF distribution. Raspberry Pi OS is now the correct name for our OS. We no longer refer to any of our OS's as Raspbian internally or externally.

Noobs is deprecated, although when it came out I never recommended it to anyone, and indeed I actively discouraged its use. For this I was chastised. Now it turns out I was right all along. How things change. Not chastised by me. I've never recommended NOOBS. Turns out I was right all along as well...

Re: Pi4 wifi power

Putting any sort of non-standard antenna on the Pi4 means its wireless certification has been bypassed, and you are probably breaking the law by using an uncertified wireless device. You should bear that in mind before continuing. If you need long distance. LoRA could be an option if speed is not an...

Re: Just wanted to weigh in on the issue of unsupported full upgrades via apt/apt-update (aka 'full upgrade').

My guess is that the OP is about upgrading releases. That was my reading of it, too. If that is what he means, it's spectacularly unclear from the OP. And if so, the answer is that going between versions this different is fraught with difficulty. More difficulty than we have time to fix. So our rec...

Re: Just wanted to weigh in on the issue of unsupported full upgrades via apt/apt-update (aka 'full upgrade').

My guess is that the OP is about upgrading releases. We've been testing Bullseye on Pi for some months, along with newer kernels and lots of DRM/KMS stuff plus the 64bit version. It's nearly there. Going to be a big change, so I suspect an official upgrade process is unlikely. We've always recommen...

Do you have any high current demand devices plugged in to the Pi?

The symptoms described are exactly those of a low power system. We just need to figure out why.

Re: ust wanted to weigh in on the issue of unsupported full upgrades via apt/apt-update (aka 'full upgrade').

Our recommendation is:

sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade

Not sure why you think otherwise, as that has always been the case (well, we used to say sudo apt upgrade a few years back, but decided full-upgrade was better)

Re: latest debian release 11 "bullseye"

Debian 11 (Bullseye) was officially released as a 'stable release' on Aug, 14, 2021. So, it's been a finished known entity for a while. No doubt the Pi OS team has been busy with it. Very. Personally, with regards to a 64bit version of it, I'd hope it supports all of the hardware of the 3B, 3B+, 4B...

Are the ROM function (floating point, etc) all fully reentrant and multi-processor aware? I just noticed that the Arduino MBed core doesn't seem to be using the ROM functions for floating point, and I don't know whether that's a bug, an oversight, or intentional... https://github.com/arduino/Arduin...

But I am a bit disappointed that @jamesh responded the way he did. It would be an easy and logical fix to increase C1 for the 'W' and make it more stable in corner cases like these. Except it isn't. Logical maybe but not easy. It's almost certainly not as simple as putting a different component ree...
