R-Pi and Change

Hi! I'd like to introduce the Technology for Change Foundation: http://www.thetechfoundation.org We're a non-profit which focuses on using technology, and more importantly the education and support of what one can do with it, to help others. We currently run several projects, with the Raspberry Pi h...

Re: Tech Demo

Hi. It's not actually hardware accelerated. Just properly optimized and fine tuned. Hardware acceleration will come next... We (WRD Systems, http://www.wrdsystems.co.uk ) have a lot of experience optimizing software for low power systems like the Raspberry Pi. This experience has allowed us to devel...

Tech Demo

Hi all, I wanted to share a video of how we're using the R-Pi as a base station for a GPS Tracking system: http://youtu.be/JOkks0oVsp8 This shows a customized desktop environment for the Raspberry Pi primarily based around Cairo-dock and XFWM4. It has several performance tweaks applied. It furthermo...

Re: GPS tracking and R-PI

Hi Mediakill. We're producing hardware as well (the actual tracker), not just software. After all, the tracking unit itself needs to be in the vehicle. The point of doing a Kickstarter is to actually be able to Open Source the whole thing (hardware and software), instead of developing it as a closed...

Re: GPS tracking and R-PI

Hi Mediakill , Even without this couldn't someone use a usb gps dongle write code for it and release it? We're not using the R-Pi to do the actual tracking - that's what we develop our trackers for. The R-Pi serves as a low power always on tracking 'command centre' to keep track of all your assets. ...

Re: GPS tracking and R-PI

@all,

We could use some help getting our project on the Reddit front page

http://www.reddit.com/r/kickstarter/com ... unding_on/

(edit: link changed due to wrong category @ Reddit)

Thanks!

Re: Simon's accelerated X development thread

Hi. I'd like to clarify something: "Kernel is indeed GPL without the L, so kernel module and everything that runs in kernel space must be GPL." Kernel developers intend a mixture of proprietary and free kernel modules. This can be seen from this passage in the kernel source code file, module.h. /* *...

Re: GPS tracking and R-PI

Hi.

Just a little update, we've added a video showing Google StreetView which is integrated into the application: http://youtu.be/DI2GN9sMjqI

That's all running in the R-PI.

Johan.

GPS tracking and R-PI

Hi all, I wanted to take the opportunity to show you our Kickstarter project: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/385904042/remote-gps-tracking The Raspberry Pi is used as a base station for the remote trackers. Its our primary testing platform for the tracker! The software and hardware will be open...
