Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Cancel the "works with the latest firmware". Ok for a while then locked up again after capturing a few images.

Have reverted to the suggested firmware and everything is much more stable...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Think I can answer my own question... For some reason when I installed RasPi Cam with the latest firmware, /var/www/FIFO was not created as a command pipe! When I removed RasPi Cam I had to manually delete /var/www/FIFO (./RPi_Cam_Web_Interface_Installer.sh remove failed to delete /var/www/FIFO), us...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

while it works perfectly for video, when I try to capture and image it seems to hang! try this Firmware sudo rpi-update 8660fe5152f6353dec61422808835dbcb49fc8b2 and it works. I have the same trouble with latest Firmware.... I have had a similar problem with capture image since the latest RPi Cam re...

Re: RaspiMJPEG control pipe won't work

Just quessing, but maybe it does not like end of lines.
Does it work better from shell with:

Code: Select all

echo -n 'em night' > /var/www/FIFO
[quote]

Thank you, that works for me.
I will dig a little deeper into why the -n is not needed for numeric values before I fully understand why though ;)

Re: RaspiMJPEG control pipe won't work

I don't know if this helps but I too have been struggling with this for a while. From the command line I can only get the pipe commands that take a numeric argument to work, i.e. echo 'ro 180' > /var/www/FIFO works but echo 'em night' > /var/www/FIFO will not. However, I have had more success runnin...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

After going down the same route as kerbys I eventually mapped a network drive to /var/www/media. This meant that after checking folder permissions no further configuration was necessary. I am still having problems getting all the pipe commands working. I have now tested all the possible pipe command...

poing wrote:Can you try changing to -ex night and the start/stop the video? I had several occasions where that suddenly made -ex night active.
Saw the earlier post suggesting this and have just tried again, but it doesn't work for me.

Can anyone confirm that echo 'em night' > /var/www/FIFO does work for them?

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Thank you @silvanmelchior for developing this. It has provided an excellent starting point to learn about the RPi Cam and ever more about the RasPi. A couple of gremlins which have been raised before in this thread that I cannot resolve. First, I have redirected jpg & mp4 saves to a Samba share by e...

Re: SD image too big for another SD Card

Hi Roman,

Not confused at all now, a very clear explanation.
So glad I asked though, I would never have got there in a month of Sundays :D

Re: SD image too big for another SD Card

Hi Roman, Thanks for this guide, it has saved much frustration after buying 2 new SD cards only to discover they were smaller than the originals. Who would have thought I would be that lucky to use the larger ones first  I have managed to resize my SD image and now have a working backup but hav...

Re: Camera freezes

Don't know if this helps but I had exactly this problem with a new camera board delivered early this week. I initially set up the camera on a model B running a much tinkered with SD card. Ensured everything was updated as recommended but the camera would lock with the led light on when I ran raspist...

Hi Gordon, thanks for that.

I think I have a clear picture now of what I can and cannot do with the digital pins on the ATMega from the Pi.

Now I can move on to the analogue ones...

Re: ATMega328 Serial on PD0/PD1

Hi Gordon, thanks for the reply and all your other good work with the Pi and GertBoard. I wasn't expecting your suggestion though as removing the 2 jumpers (as I understand it) cuts off the only means of communication between the Pi and the ATMega. I need this to control the servo's/LOLShield from c...

ATMega328 Serial on PD0/PD1

Hi all, I have succeeded in running a servo driven pan tilt connected to the ATMega328 on the Gertboard, controlled from a PS3 Sixaxis connected to the Raspberry Pi. Not rocket science but I am easily pleased :D :D :D I have a LOL shield using up 12 of the digital pins on the ATMega, so I would like...

Re: DS18B20 on Gertboard buffer...

Thank you Gert for a perfect explanation (of my schoolboy error) and for the Gertboard itself which I continue to find a wonderful learning tool. So is there another alternative for connecting a DS18B20 to a Gertboard (other than through the ATmega)? Could I connect the data pin directly to GP4 on J...

DS18B20 on Gertboard buffer...

I have been successfully running a DS18B20 through the ATmega but have (unrelated to this) managed to kill the ATmega (subject for another thread). So, I wanted to connect a DS18B20 to GPIO4 from the Gertboard and read temperature using Modprobe on the Pi. So far I haven’t managed to get this to wor...

Re: GertBoard debugging help please...

Many thanks to you both for confirming I can put the soldering iron away. It's been a long time since I have put something together like this and I did have some issues with some of the components on the GertBoard. I have to say though, by having this issue I have learnt a lot more than if things ha...

GertBoard debugging help please...

I am having an issue with the LED test on the GertBoard where D5 refuses to light up. As set up from the manual, this seems to be related back to GP21 and PIN13 on the Pi. I know D5 works because if I connect B5 with any other GP the LEDs light as expected, apart from the one that was swapped in obv...
