Managed to get it to install on the "next" firemware version. Got no errors.

Then replaced the file and now doesn't boot up.

Just stays with the red light on and does nothing. If I don't change this file works fine.

dom, just tried to use this on raspbmc and xbian but it didn't work. I tried just replacing the file first and removing fixup.dat then the raspberry pi wouldn't start so went back to original files. You don't say whether the same files play well on xbmc on another computer. They may be glitches in the original recording, perhaps reception issues? They do. I tried the latest pi firmware and xbmc compiled today, but still froze after 10 seconds.

Also I don't know if this is a specific raspberry pi xbmc problem, but when I use a windows computer and the windows version of the latest xbmc compiled nightly the files play back fine

Dom, did you take a look at them files, interested to know what you thought was going on, and if it froze for you also when trying to play

It has 3 clips I recorded from hd satellite channels using mediaportal.

For reference all sd mpeg2 clips play fine.

These clips will freeze around halfway through .

dom you able to take a look if you have a chance. Other people are reporting the same with the new openelec and raspbmc builds on the forums. The files play now for about 5 seconds then the picture freezes and sound freezes a few seconds after. Technically these files should play as good as h264 mkv...

Is bob the best deinterlacing the pi can do ?

Is everything else too too powerful for the processor/gpu ?

Raspbmc have a new thing where you can download xbmc nightly's from inside there settings app in xbmc.

So might appear there in the next builds.

I guess when you get it working again with the gpu it will run better than before as it will be using the gpu now to decode instead of the arm ?

Ok so these hd channels are not mpeg 2. They seem to play without the mpeg 2 codec in the config so I guess they are mpeg4 or something. I'm not sure why windows say they are mpeg 2 then. If I update to this latest gpu firmware and also use the latest nightly xbmc build can I deinterlace 1080i using bob.

Do I just select the deinterlace option in xbmc and will it work ? Can I expect it to run at 50fps with no drop frames ?
