Re: Slow Transfer Speeds to PI

Right, it seemed that the improvement was a one off. :( This has been on the backburner for a while, but I could do with a big improvement on performance. It takes longer to transfer a TV program to the PI than it does to watch the show. :x In all other aspects the PI works well, although thinking a...

Re: Slow Transfer Speeds to PI

I haven't changed anything at all, not even a reboot (of anything).

It's now transferring at 924KB/s

Will monitor this one...

Re: Slow Transfer Speeds to PI

Will try the transfer to the SD card later on and report back - I'm not near the PI at the moment

As for direct link - that could be tricky due to the location of the pi.

Port 22

Changing the port would make it this slow? :o really?

Slow Transfer Speeds to PI

I'm transferring some files (c.350MB each) to a self-powered USB (formatted with NTFS) drive which is attached to my PI. Nothing else is connected via USB, since having some power issues a week or so, all seems stable - the PI has been up constantly for almost 6 days now. I'm currently getting 20-40...

Re: Problem with RASPBMC

I already answered most of that ;)

Looks like the cable was definitely the issue.

uptime of over 12 hours now, so hopefully teething troubles are over :D

Just tried my 4th cable, and so far so good.

Fingers crossed...

Re: Problem with RASPBMC

Booted it up tonight using another cable and the pi boots into raspbmc.
It's still playing a program now, but I can't ssh to it.
I'll try and borrow a multimeter over the weekend

Problem with RASPBMC (solved)

I've had my Pi for a couple of weeks now and it's working ok for the first few days, albeit with the occasional reboot required. The last couple of days it's been unusable however. When started I can see the Raspberry PI logo and then, well nothing. The PI is pingable, but I cannot SSH to it. I don'...

Xmbc remote control

I'm currently using xmbc remote app for android, which is fine for the time being. However, I'm not always going to be around so I need a remote. There seems to be a fair few: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Remote_control_reviews I really want something simpler though, ie not dissimilar to the...

I was quite right :o

Such as a simple thing to miss, I was trying to open an individual file, not add the folder as a video source.

All test files work perfectly well now!!

I can be more specific later when I get home, but when I run ls (what does the -la do btw?) it shows an mp3 file, a couple of avi's and the iplayer/4OD installers.

Re: raspbmc : /home/pi shows as empty?

One final thing, when I installed BBC iPlayer, the installation files were also saved into /home/pi and these were visible.
Which suggests to me that it's not some weird permissions issue.

Can nobody help? Am stuck.

Re: Connecting to Networked hard drives or sharing USB drive

Sorry to hijack!
I have a closely related question, I've seen guides t use the pi as a nas which I want to do, the guides seem to be written for wheezy, if I use the raspbmc image, would the nas side of the set up be identical?
