problem solved, had the wrong version installed. when checking the repo again i've found the hardfp build. everything works fine now. :)

I haven't done any overclocking yet but i am wondering if the settings in the gentoo wiki would void warranty? http://elinux.org/RPi_config.txt says: "Warranty will be voided when you use force_turbo or current_limit_override or temp_limit>85 together with over_voltage>0". That seems to be the case ...

I've also installed the vc files from github. But i always end up with this:
pi ~ # /opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd
VCHI initialization failed
The libs should be fine and i can see a device like '/dev/vchiq'

Anyone has an idea how to fix this?

thanks allot for your help. i've figured out that i've compiled it wrong somehow. started from scratch again and it worked out nicely. :)

what should the output be in dmesg when networking is working? i can't find any output about networking related hardware in dmesg.
