Re: Pi4 GPIO header disaster

And I had two of these... The realy bad one went with with the recycling early this morning after basically falling apart in my hands. Just out of curiosity i've asked a friend to pick up another one from the same shop and i'll have it here in an hour or so. Just received the extra one and this one...

Re: Pi4 GPIO header disaster

There's no way that those joints came out of the solder wave machine like that. At some point in its life, it has seen the pointy end of a soldering iron. Uh, ok. the box was untouched and i opened it from the side. I have the box with the paperwork in front of me, probably the receipt somewhere as...

Re: Pi4 GPIO header disaster

Can you post a picture of the little QR code on the board please. Also, where did you get the device from, and have you ever done any soldering on it? I know very little about circuit boards, but this looks pretty shoddy compared to the B3+ Pis. Although that might be all looks and unimportant. The...

Can you post a close up macro shot of the GPIO connector plastic surrounding the pins and the underside of the Pi? Don't upload the image to the forum, use imgur or similar for a full-resolution image.
Something like this?

Re: Pi4 GPIO header disaster

I've just put some stand-off's on my Pi4b and noticed they were crooked and upon loosening them I discovered they're very loose fitting, able to move by up to a mm. Are you using stand-offs? Are they screwed in correctly? No stand-offs, no case. Would be impossible to get the hat on with standoffs ...

Re: Pi4 GPIO header disaster

I reluctantly pryed of the POE hat which took some mild violence. Its possible that i bent the two pins closest to the eth port in the process. Also this is after the most crooked ones were straightened, they were all slightly misaligned so the problem was less obvious to the eye out of the box, but...

Pi4 GPIO header disaster

So i hope i this is just a fluke, and this is not a complaint rather an inquiry if this is as unusual as i hope it is. And i hope this is the right place to post this. I just bought 2* Pi4B 2GB and tried to connect the POE hat (which i've done hundreds of times without exaggeration) and realised the...

Re: pygame set_volume no longer working on raspberry pi

Thanks, but according to the docs the result should be 0.1*0.1 in that case.
I've tried setting them one at a time, both, and none. Makes no difference.

The sound obj reports having a low volume set, but still plays at max.

pygame set_volume no longer working on raspberry pi

So Im trying to set the volume of a sound in pygame, playing it on the 3.5mm output. The sound plays perfectly, but i cant change the volume of the sound. This has worked in the past. Im essentially doing this: pygame.mixer.pre_init(44100, -16, 2, 2048) pygame.init() self._snd = pygame.mixer.Sound("...

Re: omxplayer dbuscontrolm.sh and 3 videos

Thank you. Works with three 320x180 vids (just had time for a quick test). I guess ill have to test to find the limit in my case. Doesnt seem to be a memory issue, so is this a GPU capacity problem? Im doing the testing on a Pi 2 B, but intend to run this on a Pi B+, do you think i will have additio...

omxplayer dbuscontrolm.sh and 3 videos

Im trying to get three omxplayers running, to be able to switch between different videos quickly by using pausing etc. Using dbuscontrolm.sh i can quite easlity get 2 videos running the way i want them, but when adding a third everything breaks, and in a strange place. In the code below, when i issu...

Re: no fuss 24v digital input

Thanks for the suggestions! First one looks ideal, but only comes as a kit and I dont have the time to do a 100 of them. Ill contact them and see if they can sell complete ones for a different price. The second one looks very interesting too, especially together with that sweet looking module box. I...

no fuss 24v digital input

Hi, not sure if this is the correct forum, but ill start here and see where it takes me. Im looking for a way to connect/listen to digital 24v signals. I need to read 4 24v signals from the Pie. The problem is that I need a 100 of them and frankly don't have the time or knowledge to design something...

Touch screen works in X, how do i use it in console

I'v got a cheap touch screen overlay with usb connection that i want to use from the console via either pygame or kivy. But Im stuck. It works beautifully straight out of the box in X, multitouch and everything. I know i can run pygame in X but id like to save as much memory as possible and not give...
