Project: Enhanced Default App for Win10 IoT

One of the things I've found lacking with Windows 10 IoT is the lack of features in the default home screen. Specifically, the lack of an application launcher, or access to the management screen, makes headed usage of Windows 10 IoT, especially with multiple apps, entirely dependent on a secondary c...

Re: How to turn off my raspberry from an app?

It's definitely possible to make a UWP app turn off the Raspberry Pi The source code for the default first boot startup app is on GitHub - here is how they shutdown the Pi https://github.com/ms-iot/samples/blob/develop/IoTCoreDefaultApp/IoTCoreDefaultApp/Views/MainPage.xaml.cs#L163 You might need to...

Re: [Tutorial] gpSP - Full Speed GBA Emulator with Sound and

I have a small issue when running the prebuilt binary in the post. When running the emulator through the analog output on the raspberry pi, the sides of the emulator interface appear to be cut off, no matter what settings I use for the sdtv aspect ratio. The standard console is fine, however the emu...

Hi Simon, thank you very much for your great work :) I followed your instructions until I stopped at "Running it" section: i can get after the "Checking that it works...", but it does hang up with a "FBDEV_RPI(0): FBIOBLANK: Operation not permitted" error. What can i do? Thank you again and sorry f...

Re: Simon's accelerated X development thread

Oops, missed the Lesser. Anything MIT should be compatible with LGPL, since the license basically says "Without restriction, provided this notice is included in the source". Be aware that MIT/BSD-style licenses often say "software" there instead of "source" Meaning that you must reproduce the copyr...

Re: Simon's accelerated X development thread

Hi there, does anyone know what license I need to release my code under? I'm terrible at these things! There is no license information in the source code I'm building (in a readme or otherwise), and searching on the x.org wiki for 'license' gives nothing. However wikipedia says that Xorg itself is ...

Re: Qt/KDE and OpenGL

Well, currently trying it out. It isn't that bad! Probably need more ram and a faster SD card :D (only got the 256MB Pi). Other than being a tad sluggish due to lack of Xorg acceleration, it works well! EDIT - OpenGL composition doesn't actually work. Not sure if I missed a package or two, but it sa...

The main issues are lack of accelerated Xorg and lack of OpenGLES compatibility in Minecraft. Another issue is my laziness :D

Re: Attempting to port Minecraft (Client!) to the Raspberry

Nope, underclocking does not help. Looks like I'll have some portin' to do! How exactly are you doing this, tinkering to optimise a java VM? Well, I'll need to port Minecraft to OpenGL ES. I'll probably have to do some stuff with lwjgl to make it play nice with the videocore gpu the rpi uses. All I...

Attempting to port Minecraft (Client!) to the Raspberry PI.

This is a project I have undertaken to try get Minecraft working in a playable state to the Pi. This project will probably crash and burn, but I can try! :D Currently I can get it to launch to an unusable title screen running at under one frame per second! http://i.imgur.com/r2f0c.jpg I will be post...

In order to input stuff, if you're using python in a terminal (i.e. text based) you won't get a popup box as input. You just type directly into the terminal window.

Re: How to start xfce/lxde ?

Openbox is the default window manager of lxde. If you wish to use openbox on its own, you would need to create a custom .Xinitrc. This file tells startx what to launch when it is executed. Alternatively, you could install a graphical logn manager such as gdm, although I'm not sure how the pi would h...

Re: How to shutdown the Raspberry Pi?

Just run sudo halt from a console to shut your pi down. This initiates the linux shutdown routine.
