HDMIPi assembly and first impressions

Received my HDMIPi and I'm very impressed. It's a very tidy solution to adding a portable monitor to a Pi (or a Pi to a monitor). Posted:

Well recommended.

Re: Cheap motion/acceleration add-on

Nice one Clive, looks good. I fixed my code (see above for previous post) and made some progress with using the magnetometer and accelerometer combined for tilted angles, but have parked that project temporarily due to receiving a Maplin robot arm for Christmas (too many toys... not enough time). I ...

Re: Cheap motion/acceleration add-on

It arrived this morning, so time to play: Argh ! their software only gives the raw magnetometer x y z values ... Thanks for the conversion to 0-360 degrees. I've been trying to figure this out myself for a few hours so your post was most welcome (I'd even got to the point of reading documentation o...

The original code I wrote for The MagPi had some print statement statements in it. Check to see if you have any of these.

Glad to hear it is all working now :)

Re: styles.css code magpi #9 python pi example

What is the best way to transfer a value from my web server to my main loop To send data from the parent process to a sub process see my Python Pit article in The MagPi Issue 8. I send the screen resolution from the parent process to the child widgets using stdin. stdout does the same in reverse, s...

Re: styles.css code magpi #9 python pi example

How can I arrange for this program to interact within a larger program...I need the web section running within a main program loop that is monitoring GPIO pins. Ahah! We can do this as well. One suggestion would be to use sub processes. From the top of my head something like: Parent process -> subp...

@Bristol event on 20 April - The MagPi in attendance

Are you going to the @Bristol Raspberry Pi boot camp event on 20 April? ( http://www.at-bristol.org.uk/1719.html ) If so The MagPi will be in attendance. Come along and say hi to us on our stand. We'll have lots going on and will be running a drop-in Q&A centre to provide help on anything Raspberry ...

Re: styles.css code magpi #9 python pi example

Yup we can do this. There's two ways: When the response is sent to the browser you'll notice that it renders it based on the template. At the top of the template is $def with (title) - this is where you can specify variables to send back. Hence if you populate a variable of btnColour with "green" an...

Neat improvements to an already excellent board Texy.

Out of curiosity, any especial reason for moving the central button outside of the central position?

Here you go. A new version of the .py script that calls templates/index2.html . I have moved the table layout to index2.html and dropped the use of web.py form hence you can change the layout as you need to in straightforward HTML in index2.html. By way of example: 3 rows and 2 columns as requested....

Firstly - I found your article extremely helpful. Hey cool, happy to help :) :) I have modified your code and now have 8 separate buttons - each controlling a separate IO pin. That is exactly what I hoped people would realise they could do - nice one! However the 8 buttons are all in a line ie (8ro...

Re: ModMyPi Mk.2 USB Hub, 2.5'' HDD, Patch Bay, On/Off - Ide

Price should be between £17 - £27, once everything's been accounted for. Considering it contains a decent powered USB hub (£7 - £15), quality power supply (£5 - £10), Case (£5 - £12), and it's an integrated solution (with patch bay, switch, HDD Caddy etc.) I don't think that's too much to ask. You'...

Yeah that's a good point isn't it ;) And yes I will. Won't be back to IP68 obviously, but shouldn't need to be given the hole will be underneath.

Eurohike accidentally seem to have made a waterproof Pi case

I was in a camping shop today (Blacks in the UK) and spotted a perfectly formed Raspberry Pi case. Definitely an accidental use for Eurohike's product but as I know a lot of uses for the Pi involve needing a waterproof enclosure I thought I would mention it, especially as it is discounted at the mom...

Re: Nokia Pi LCD + Switch Shield board

This may come in useful if you have a Nokia 3310 LCD from Texy (got mine, it's awesome). I’ve just ported large font creation to Python because I could only find it defined in C: http://www.rasptut.co.uk/files/raspberry-pi-nokia3310-lcd.php has all the details and a link back to the original source....
