Re: Turn-key WordPress Server Image - PressPi

This is a great raspi image. It's really useful for plugin dev work, and I plan on setting up several of these for different purposes / projects. I think this has great potential as a low cost, low power dev friendly environment. On that note, I've got a few suggestions that would make this even grr...

Re: Can not set up VNC server to start at bootup

Don't know if you want to try another VNC, but I use x11vnc and have lxde autostart it. I found x11vnc was better for me as I wanted to access the same session as being displayed via HDMI (console 0). Plus, it supports UVNC and TightVNC file transfer. steps: install and set password - sudo apt-get ...

OK thanks.

Any idea how the clock speed relates to the sdcard speeds?

Re: Max SD Card Speed

Thanks for the link. I meant from a technical perspective though. I'm wondering what the theoretical max speed is. From what I know of the pi things like the land are controlled by the USB so are essentially USB devices meaning the USB max bus speed is the limiting factor. If that's the same for the...

Max SD Card Speed

Hi,

Whats the fastest read/write speed of and sd-card can the pi theoretically handle on the sdcard slot?

Is this controlled by the usb, and thus limited to 40ish mb speeds?

Any ideas/facts would be appreciated.

Thanks & MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Re: PiControl - Mange your Raspberry Pi from your Android Ph

Judging by the ratings on Google Play this app is useless. I think ill have a go at making some possibly for both Android and iPhone if there is any interest. Itd be good to know how much interest there is for this and which what platforms people want. If there is a demand ill get started. Let me kn...

According to everything ive read so far the profiles should be in /home/pi/pp_home

Re: Pi Presents: A display package for museums & visitor cen

Ive just installed PiPresents on a raspi that's been packed a way for a while. I tried accessing some web based apps already installed on the box, but instead of getting them Im getting a page from thttpd, which appears to be a web server. Is this installed as part of the Pi Present installation? If...

Re: BlinkStick

I just ordered one of these, but will probably use it with my HTPC (MediaPortal) to set-up an ambilight system, probably using the IKEA light set since there is already a tutorial on the blinkstick website. I only visited the site because i though; "Whats the point of this?".

Re: CPU load vs. Turbo mode

No thanks, I'm just going to change the cpu threshold as you haven't said anything to stop me from believing that this ping-ponging will happen without changing it. Ok.... 1) Its not my job to prove anything too you, and God knows why you are so arrogant as to give such a response! 2) Ive tried it ...

Re: CPU load vs. Turbo mode

The point I was trying to make is that it will constantly be jumping from idle to turbo speeds, which doesn't sound ideal and it would be better if it would mostly stay at turbo speeds when being used (i.e. CPU over 50-60%) which can be achieved by changing the up_threshold. Try it. It either idles...

Re: CPU load vs. Turbo mode

Isn't there an issue with just setting the idle speed to something low like 300Mhz, as if the OC value is left at 95%, it might jump from idle to Turbo mode as soon as the user does something but then it will soon fall below 95% and drop back down again, to idle speed I guess, so there'll constantl...

Yes. The governor is responsible for determining when and how the CPU should respond to system demands.

The govenor is already set to ondemand isnt it, otherwise turbo mode would never kick in???

Re: why idle at 700mhz ???

In config.txt set arm_freq_min=XXX, where XXX is the minimum frequence you want, I am running at 100Mhz. You also need to set the CPU governor to ondemand or conservative. The PI will then switch between the minimum and core frequeceny as required. No offence but did you actually read the full thre...
