Re: New IT (UK) Supplier

Very fast answers from NewIT by e-mail, in the middle of the week-end, thanks NewIT. The Kingston 8GB SD card is indeed labelled as unstable on the wiki: http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#SD_cards They have offered to ship me a 16GB instead, which is nice from them. I have declined however b...

Re: New IT (UK) Supplier

Bought my RPI three weeks ago at NewIT. Worked like a charm two weeks and then stopped working. I just had time to look at the problem, and it seems the 8GB Kingston flash SC card I bought is already corrupted. I don't think I've done too much I/O on it, probably a bad fabric for this SC card. Looks...

There are plenty of tutorials on the wild that explain how to expand your partition to use the whole card.

Re: RPI as VPN gateway

As LetHopeItsSnowing, I have tried to set up a VPN Server on the Pi, to be able to safe-connect my mobile devices on public WiFis. Started with OpenVPN, then realized that no client for android and iOS without jail-breaking them. You may be interested in the benchmark I made though. Using the defaul...

Re: Autostarting Java

The .bashrc file is executed each time a user logs in. (at start-up, or when ssh)
Are you sure that this is what you want to do?

There are other proper ways to start an app at startup, such as CRON or init.d

6days uptime currently on my RPi running the 2012-09-18 raspian, but I've never started X nor connected any USB device.
I'm using the networking a lot though.

Re: New IT (UK) Supplier

So, now every PI shipped by you guys is going to be 512mb ram version? Or do you still have to get rid of 256 mb ram first? If you read the whole thread, you will see that they received 300 units of 256MB two weeks ago and that they were sold out within 8-9days. So, they shouldn't have any 256MB le...

It just arrived home! Less than a week (4 business days) overseas shipping (Spain). Quick and very efective service. Thanks, guys! ;) P.S.: I'm going to try to think in the new RP instead of in the new 512 MB memory upgrade I've missed  Haha, life sucks. I bought mine a week earlier as well......

So, it takes one more working day to get to Sweden than to get to Holland.

Thank you NewIT !

Re: New IT (UK) Supplier

I had become kind of discouraged by the shipping delays offered by the two main suppliers, but reading all those nice reviews, just ordered one, using card payment.

I'll tell you how long it takes from UK to Sweden :)
