As for libnfc, you can also check it out from the git repository mentioned on debian: http://packages.debian.org/source/sid/libnfc
Then run debuild to generate debian packages ready for installing.

Did anyone bother to create a deb package with a kernel that fixes the FTDI issue?
I didn't compile a kernel myself in two years, and I guess many others having the issue would prefer to just apt-get install it.
