Re: Alternate 7" LCD touchscreen on Pi

The next challenge is getting the touchscreen driver to work. I built a USB cable that goes between the Raspberry Pi 2 and the LCD, but has two extra leads (5V and ground) that connect to pins on the 2x20 header. That took care of the power issue. A compatible driver according to the screen's hardwa...

Re: Alternate 7" LCD touchscreen on Pi

I got it working at (close to) the native resolution! Here are the important lines from config.txt: #disable_overscan=1 overscan_right=48 hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080 hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=14 hdmi_drive=1 I believe hdmi_mode 14 is 848x480, and I actually wanted 800x480, so I set overscan_right to 48...

Re: Alternate 7" LCD touchscreen on Pi

Here's the picture of the display (sorry for the flash). As you can see, the aspect ratio is correct, but it is scaled as if the screen was only 640 pixels wide instead of 800 pixels wide.

Re: Alternate 7" LCD touchscreen on Pi

Thanks for your reply! I added the usb_max_current=1 line, and it almost worked. I could see the boot process about half the time (interspersed with the screen flashing garbage pixels), but when it got to the desktop, it was all garbage pixels. I also tried changing the resolution to 1600x960, but i...

Alternate 7" LCD touchscreen on Pi

I'm trying to use a 7" LCD touchscreen (that I already own) with the RPi2. The LCD is powered through a microUSB cable which also transmits the touchscreen coordinates back through the cable, and has a full-sized HDMI port. Here's the setup: * RPi2 with the latest version of Raspbian with all update...

Re: Has anyone tried directly connecting this micro router?

I found this information about extending the servo leads: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=555531 So, would I have to have one Pi2 with the servo controller at the tailgate and another in the cab of the truck? I know the networking or power won't be an issue, but I'd rather keep the n...

Has anyone tried directly connecting this micro router?

I was looking at the VoCore micro router/AP/bridge at http://ameridroid.com/t/vocore as it seems like an interesting idea to make a portable router solution for my truck automation project. I know it is possible to set up a Pi as a router, but with the VoCore with OpenWRT already installed, it shoul...

Re: Weird characters coming over serial port

In addition to the baud rate, check that the flow control (xon/xoff, rts/cts) is the same on both ends, and the number of bits and stop bits are the same. Another thing you may wish to do is to perform an initial serial read, discard that, and then proceed as normal. It may be a problem with garbage...

Re: SD card stops working after cloning using dd on Mac

I've never seen this happen unless the source and the destination got mixed up. I suppose the partition table on the SD card could have gotten corrupted somehow, or just the bootloader partition, but that would've most likely have been an unfortunate coincidence.

I looked through the command-line options at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/silvanmelchior/userland/master/host_applications/linux/apps/raspicam/README_RaspiMJPEG.md but I can't seem to find any way to change the h264 resolution and framerate. Am I missing something? Or does it record h264 at a d...

@SilvanMelchior: Once again I say, you are a genius! I checked out the page at http://elinux.org/RPi-Cam-Web-Interface to try to find the list of command line parameters for raspimjpeg, but I didn't see a complete list or explanation of what they are. I also ran --help and -? after raspimjpeg with n...

Re: RaspiMJPEG

I'm sorry to say that I have also not had success with changing settings using pipes. I haven't looked at raspimjpeg's source code yet (other than manually changing the bitrate), but I would suspect that the code needed to change the settings is missing in raspimjpeg.

Re: RaspiMJPEG

Well, strangeness continues, but this time in a good way. I didn't change the code or recompile RaspiMJPEG, but now it seems to be capturing at 3Mbps instead of 17Mbps, just like I needed. Maybe a reboot was all that was needed. :-O

Re: RaspiMJPEG

If your application needs 30 Mbit/sec, you may need something besides the R-Pi camera. It may not be supported by the current R-Pi firmware; check out line 96 of this file... https://github.com/raspberrypi/userland/blob/master/host_applications/linux/apps/raspicam/RaspiVid.c // Max bitrate we allow...

Silvanmelchior, you are a genius. :-) Thanks so much for your work on this! I, on the other hand, apparently am not a genius. For my application, I need to record at a bitrate of 3000000. So, I downloaded the git files, went into RaspiMJPEG.c, made the following change: // h264encoder->output[0]->f...

I think it has not yet been included. The pull request ( https://github.com/raspberrypi/userland/pull/134 ) has not been merged right now, but you could try to build it from jamesh git repository. I'm a bit confused. I just ran rpi-update, but I don't see a way to capture the mjpeg with raspivid. Is this part not ready, or is it just not documented?
