Re: Help with science fair idea- monitoring air quality with

I think I have finally found someone who is thinking along my same lines, and using a Pi. http://airpi.es/ This looks like a good project for my daughter, and from initial pricing it appears to be affordable which is a big plus. Many of the others I saw started over a couple hundred dollars and that...

Help with science fair idea- monitoring air quality with pi?

Hello all, I have been searching for a while today trying to find answers and was not terribly successful, so I thought I'd ask here. My daughter wants to use the Pi in an environmental fashion for a science fair project, we thought about it together and she thought it could be used to monitor air q...

Re: Video of daughters science fair project made in Scratch

Thanks for the information, I will take a look and we may try that next and see if response times improve. Strangely enough the sounds on the second part of the project are usually faster to respond than the basic piano sounds. We were using Raspbian, though we used Adafruits version found at the li...

Video of daughters science fair project made in Scratch

Sharing a quick video of my daughters science fair project that she made in Scratch. In the video it is working pretty well, but there is still some delay in processing sound. I have the Pi overclocked to 1ghz and that helped a ton, but performance comes and goes. Seems to work best right after a re...

Re: Cyntech Cases - BerryBlack in stock

Thought I'd share a quick link of my daughters 7th grade science project, the Cyntech case is there looking good with the Pi and a MaKey MaKey running the show. We made our own color combination with two of the cases, using the clear top on the purple/blue bottom. Love the case! I have a heatsink on...

Fixed sound in scratch - Used Occidentals .2 image!

Just an fyi post for anyone having sound issues with the latest raspbian build. I was having tons of trouble with it working and was getting pretty frustrated. I finally decided to use an older build to see if it helped, but before I got it I downloaded Occidentalis v0.2 from the people over at Adaf...

Re: Howto improve Scratch Performance

The sound fix is the one I need, but it appears that this fix will not help analog output, only hdmi if I read the thread correctly. I need analog fixed if possible. I wish that there was an image out there that I could just download with working scratch + analog sound. That is literally all I want ...

Re: Scratch locks up? (when playing sound?)

I'm having the exact same issues, driving me nuts last night trying to get it to work. My daughter has a science fair project she is finishing up and we cannot get it to work on the Pi, she is using a makey makey to use items to make sounds, problem is there are no sounds from scratch, it just locks...

Re: Cyntech Cases - BerryBlack in stock

Wow, thank you very much! I'll be happy to try them out, in one of my applications at work it will be useful to have the SD card covered. I'd already been on your site looking to see when I could get one too. I'll share some photos here once I get it also, I'm no master photographer by any means but...

Re: Cyntech Cases - BerryBlack in stock

Ha, you weren't kidding, already got an email and got it fixed. You UK guys are just all over it! :D Appreciate it, and I still say your cases are the best I've tried by far. I've attached two small copper heatsinks to my Pi and it still fits perfectly in the case. Using the case in my daughters sci...

Re: Cyntech Cases - BerryBlack in stock

I purchased three of the Cyntech Cases and absolutely love how well done the cases are. I got Iceberry, Bluberry, and BlackIce. My favorite cases by far. My only issue with my purchase so far has been that I also ordered three USB cables and two GPIO cables at the same time and I only got one of eac...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

A setting would be helpful as 8080 is used so commonly by many. In my case at my remote locations I have 80 used, 8080 used, and at least 11 other ports I know of offhand open and used. My sites are fully remote operated so I have to have ports open and pointing to the correct IP, setting up routers...

I'm interested in getting a couple of these possibly, are there any available photos of the other colors the case is now available in? I'm in the US so I will be ordering from the distributor there, are they actually available there now?

Re: Short Crust Case

Really like this design, looks great. I think I would personally prefer a clear top so I can fully see the Pi inside, but the smoke looks good too. I'm still waiting on getting my first case for my needs, but yours looks like it would be a great choice. I keep looking on Amazon and there is not much...

Thanks Axel, I appreciate the work and I have your fork installed and working now. I need to do a little work to get my photos somewhere online, so I can turn around and redownload them lol. So far working well, and I have a kiosk and screen ready to go. I need to get a case for my Pi and then I can...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Is there any hope of being able to serve photos that are stored locally on the device? Pro sounds interesting to us as I do have a ton of locations that I could possibly find a use for this at, but many, many of them are running on wireless data cards with limited bandwidth. Say 5gb a month, and the...

I'd get a few of them but do not want the basic black. I want a clear case to show off the slice of Pi inside! Orange would be nice, anything other than another black case.

Re: Pi in museum exhibits?

Same here, I just need a slide show - fade or slide would be fine. Needs to be headless operation, would prefer it just boot and go into a slideshow pulling from a set directory. Would be great if I could access remotely and add and remove photos as needed. I figured out how to get VNC working corre...

Great thread, I have the exact same needs with a Pi running a video display. Still waiting on my Pis to come in and I'll get started on my version of this. I'm still figuring out how to display the photos lol, but I'm sure as I read more I'll get it figured out. I may get the GPIO cable so I can jus...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

New here, but screenly sounds like exactly what I need/want out of the pi I have on its way right now. I need photos to go by on a screen. That's it. This will be a secondary screen in a kiosk just displaying images. The other one I ordered will likely be connected to a large HDTV at some point for ...

Hi all, new user and totally new to Pi so I'll be reading a lot more than posting for now I'm quite sure.
