API for controlling USB port power?

I'm looking for an API that will let me control +5 power at each of the USB ports individually. I only want to power some devices when they're needed. I can do this post-USB ports with p-FETs tied to GPIO pins, but I suspect the hardware is already there. Any clues? I'll be doing this on Pi 2 and Pi...

Re: B+ Camera is not detected (workaround available)

I did the firmware update to 3.12.26+ #707, rebooted, and did a raspistill capture without running the camerafix script -- and the raspistill capture worked. In prior lives, rebooting and trying a raspistill capture elicited error messages (requiring yet another reboot and running the raspistill scr...

Re: B+ Camera is not detected (workaround available)

It seems the recently release 3.12.26 #707 does not require running the camerafix.sh hack after reboot -- at least that's the case on my B+

cheers--

Re: B+ Camera is not detected (workaround available)

I notice there's a firmware update available today, to 3.12.26+ #704

I would hope that someone will post an update on this thread when a firmware update eliminates the necessity to run camerafix on startup.

Many thanks--

Re: B+ Camera is not detected

On my older model B with the camera, I have blacklist entries: blacklist spi-bcm2708 blacklist i2c-bcm2708 Which is interesting as I have the AdaFruit PiTFT display running on that one, and IIRC it uses both I2C and SPI, and the camera works fine The other B, the one I pulled the camera from, defini...

B+ Camera is not detected (workaround available)

I moved a (Raspberry Pi) camera module from a working Raspberry Pi model B to a new B+. Software is current (3.12.26+ #702) on both B and B+ systems. Camera module is enabled using raspi-config (how do I confirm this?). Running raspistill -o click.jpg returns: mmal: mmal_vc_component_create: failed ...

Re: "vcgencmd measure_temp" command failing

yup, doing id -a showed the differences, and sure enough, there are other posts indicating you need to be in video for vcgencmd to work.

all is now well (until the next surprise comes along).

Re: "vcgencmd measure_temp" command failing

I wish it was that simple -- for me, it works on one account (pi), but not on another (one I created). from the pi account, /opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd measure_temp gives me the cpu temperature, but from the other account, it gives me VCHI initialization failed sounds like a priv issue, which I'll dig into...
