I have the same issue. Here's how I fixed half the problem. I don't think Minecraft will ever work on the Raspberry Pi, I have a friend who runs a server and it fairly eats up RAM, talking 1-2 Gigs, not to mention that it can be quite cpu intensive at times as well.

This does look very exciting, it's one of the plans I have for the R pi. Can't wait, been a fan on xbmc since the original xbox.

Once we get more details though it will be better, like what bit rates it can handle etc.
