Re: faster USB storage?

found it, I have a full-speed hub, the drive is connected to the hub, so unfortunately
it can reach only the full speed, or 12Mb/sec

I changed the setup so the drive directly connects to the USB port on board, now I get 10MB/sec

Re: faster USB storage?

actually just copying from the SD card (root) to the hard drive mount gives only 1MB/sec speed

Re: faster USB storage?

right now copying a 100MB file takes 5-10minutes, either on samba or ssh

faster USB storage?

I connect a USB hard drive to my Pi and use it as a file server. while I don't expect file read/write performance as provided by a dedicated NAS storage server, the file access speed on the raspberry pi is really too slow, actually amazingly slow. I am wondering if there are any special tricks to ma...

Memory split? no more .elf file changes?

older wheezy image provides several different .elf files in /boot dir, so you could change them to achieve different memory splits.

now with the new images, there is only one /boot/start.elf, so how do we change the split now ?
(for example for using XBMC)

Thanks

I got a segfault that way hi I just tested it, after I started xbmc, it pops a message in big fonts saying "XBMC needs openGL accelerated hardware, you need to install a hardware driver....", then exits doesn't the libEGS libraries take care of this? thanks Yang Great news :) The new xbmc build has ...

sorry I mean I installed the package from the first post in this thread, i.e.

wget https://github.com/downloads/RB-tomaz/x ... .armhf.deb

is that what you installed?

Re: Two XBMC (.deb) compiled/prepared for users + instructio

Thanks for this package. I installed it , works pretty well. but there is a problem: the picture viewer seems to stall randomly: sometimes I load a picture, the screen just goes into black, and never comes back. the machine is still responsive, and cpu is low. in fact "ps " shows that xbmc is in "Sl...

Re: Raspbian with XBMC image download

is there a .deb package to install it?

I have already put a lot of stuff into my existing wheezy system, would hate to wipe it with a new image.

thanks!

fast slideshow software?

I tried using gqview and eog to display slideshows of my pictures on the TV, sort of using it as a giant picture frame. but as you know X is very slow on Pi, due to the non-hardware-accelerated nature of current X driver. so the pictures are very slow (in fact it randomly crashes gqview), and the co...
