Re: Pi and HDMI monitors

I didn't get around to doing anything more with the Pi last Friday but, back to work today! Armed with a Pi2 and guess what.... the PiHut converter worked?! Used a different monitor, in fact several and it all worked fine. I think I need to go ahead and order all the kit before something else happen...

Thanks Andy, I'll try but.........the screen is actually so large I can't select the LX terminal icon!
I'll give it another whirl if I get a chance today.

Re: Pi and HDMI monitors - similar problems

Hi, I have money to spend before the end of term and want to buy some more Pi. We have vga monitors and so far I've used (expensive) hdmi/vga converter boxes which are fine except they also need a plug so each Pi requires 3 sockets! I've come into work an hour early today just to try out some things...

Re: Hour of Code Pibrella Sorting Hat

Ha! That'll be it then....I'd got the right words but not necessarily in the right order! See below:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install python3-pip
sudo pip3.2 install pibrella

Thanks

Hour of Code Pibrella Sorting Hat

I'm struggling to get this to work. I've followed the teacher set up instructions (twice) but get stuck when installing other libraries. I keep getting a message "install: cannot stat 'pibrella': No such file or directory" and this is followed by "install: cannot stat 'pip3.2': No suc...

Re: Sonic Pi Competition

Of course, you are quite right!
I hadn't got as far as looking at the actual entry form.
I won't bother promoting it to my College students then!
(sheepish) Thanks

Sonic Pi Competition

Hi,
I've read through the info about the Sonic Pi competition but can't see any age limit.
Is it open to pupils in any particular age group?
Is it open to pupils in College?

Thanks

Time lapse photos

Hi, I've followed the instructions (here http://www.raspberrypi.org/learning/timelapse-setup/) on setting up my Picamera and it works fine. Now, I'd like to set it up to do time lapse but it doesn't work. I've set the crontab up as per the instructions and double-double checked - but it won't take p...

I definitely can't help but...is that Air Pi code? Looks like it from here, have you tried the Air Pi forum (http://airpi.freeforums.net/). I'm having problems with my Air Pi & getting lots of help from the forum there.

NOOBS too big?

Hi, I got some Raspberry Pis from Google (for doing HoC) and after waiting ages for cables etc (long, boring story) I want to set them up but I'm having trouble with the SD cards. They come with cards, I want to install the NOOBS v1.3.4. I've formatted one and copied the NOOBS to it but on boot up t...

Re: Raspberry Picademy for Teachers

Carrie Anne,
Is there any possibility that a second round of this course will run at a later date?
My Easter is fully booked and a divorce would be my 'next big adventure' if I signed up for this at short notice :?

Sonic Pi sound

Hi, having a real issue with sound! Sonic Pi won't issue any sound. Have tried speakers, headphones and just trying to play through the TV the Pi is hooked up to. Volume is on full blast but still nothing. Speakers definitely work so do headphones. Would really like to use Sonic Pi but unable. Can a...

Re: stall on boot with new SD image

Thank you for reply....guess what?
Turned on Pi this morning and went off to check the washing and on return the Pi fired up to the desktop. So, yes a large SD card and patience was required.
Cheers

stall on boot with new SD image

My Pi has been working fine and continues to work well with the pre-loaded SD card. Today I've downloaded a new image of wheezy and installed it on another SD card but during boot up it stalls. I've tried leaving it alone for a while, varying between 5 mins and 20 mins. Last message on-screen = &quo...
