Haha staying up late with the pi? Does the pi survive? But you wouldn't care much if the pi is damaged right? technically you have thousands of them with you anyway.

Re: Power Supply - A Sticky Topic for Beginners

Here's some tips 1. Galaxy tabs charger 5v2a is enough to run wifi, keyboard, mouse and 1-2usb hdd 2. I hate multiple wall warts, so i simply find a single beefy enough usb charger and bypass the main 700mA fuse by powering it from the gpio header or back powering it from a hub 3. Trust me, those ch...

Re: Slow Samba #read but normal write

[solved]kinda 1. First i thought it was a signal related problem. Yes, it does.. The read rate goes to 1.6MB/s from 2xxkB/s when i put it beside my router. 2. Then I plug in my Alfa 036NHR the gain is significant although it is far from the router. 3. When i try the orginal mini dongle on my pc, it ...

Re: Permanently broken sdcard

I guess some people are just unlucky with their SD cards I'm still using the same Kingston 8GB class 4 micro SD card for nearly a year now. I've had the odd kernel panic, lock-ups (which was my own fault) and lazy shutdown via pulling the plug but touch wood no corruption problems even from multipl...

@meltwater Yeah, i've tried all of that. :( 1. Camera 2. Linux pc 3. Some formatter.exe All failed to do anything. And yes, i just broke a card reader(those cheap ones) a few weeks ago, but i am not sure what caused it. now all i have is the camera as card reader and formatter. My sdcard brand that ...

Permanently broken sdcard

Is there anyone here permanently brick/broke their sd card by unsafe shutdown? Personally i've broken a couple of it. :D what i mean broke/brick is you cannot use it anymore not even able to format it on pc. In my case, power outage is the enemy, as it occurs a few time in a day here. The card will ...

Slow Samba #read but normal write

I have this one little problem, it is quite weird. Normally what we thought is read>write. But in my case, it goes another way around. I am getting ~220KB/s (kilobyte) read, in which a file is transfered from the pi(server) to my local computer. The write seems to be normal at 1-2MB/s(megabyte). I d...

Re: Python script error

You probably need to "escape" the quotes around MB, as in \"MB\" so they don't get interpreted by Python as a string terminator. It works! Thanks! If no one helped me i would be scratching my head for good hours. https://www.dropbox.com/s/l6u10dnht9brwk7/Photo%20Jun%2001%2C%2010%2047%2032%20A...

Code: Select all

lcd.scrollDisplayLeft()
should move the display along ONE unit. Put it in a loop with sleep(0.5) for good effect.

This tends to mean you have to determine the length of your message before scrolling it.
Can you describe more on this or even an example? :D

Python script error

Hello, I followed a tutorial from adafruits regarding the 16x2 display. Currently i ran into an error which i am not able to resolve. The problem is about a small script. It is a script where it shows me the free ram on 16x2 lcd screen free -m | grep cache: | awk '{print $4 "MB" }' For example, if t...

+1 :D I would really like if someone can make a detailed tutorial on this.. Re: usb sound card and omxplayer

What are you trying to do exactly? If you want to play music or internet radio/music streams, you don't need to use omxplayer, you can install mplayer instead which works fine with ALSA. The only time you need to use omxplayer is for video sources at which point you'll only have to deal with the po...

usb sound card and omxplayer

hey guys :)

just a question, does omxplayer allows you to output its audio through usb sound card. i bought a cheap usb sound card (tenx tech tp6911 chipset) and it works great on MOC player, no more crackling sound during track change.. but omxplayer isn't giving me any sound.
