Re: Issues with StarTech.com USB312SAT3CB cable?

As promised a follow-up report: * StarTech replaced the USB3S2SAT3CB adapter. The firmware version of the new adapter was 150708b10a01 (exactly the same as the first adapter). The replacement adapter did seem to work better than the replaced adapter but still has issues. It was useable on the Raspbe...

Re: Pi4 USB3 Unreliable

Not sure if this is related, but I am having issues (hangs) with especially the top USB 3.0 port of my Raspberry Pi 4 as well.

Re: Issues with StarTech.com USB312SAT3CB cable?

Another quick update on the USB3S2SAT3CB cable: Before I shipped the cable to StarTech I bit the bullet and installed Windows 10 (which apparently works withouth a key) in a VirtualBox VM on my 10 year old MacBook Pro in order to run the ASMedia MPTool and the StarTech firmware upgrade tool. Before ...

Re: Issues with StarTech.com USB312SAT3CB cable?

A follow-up on the USB3S2SAT3CB cable: * On a recent MacBook Pro with (only) USB-C 3.1 ports: - the (USB-A) cable works as an USB 3.0 device when connected via a USB HUB (Hyper HyperDrive NET 6-in-2 Hub for USB-C MacBook Pro) - the (USB-A) cable does not work as an USB 3.1 device when connected via ...

Re: Ubuntu from SSD - easy method

Hi all, I have made a dual boot Raspberry Pi OS / Ubuntu USB stick. I use an USB stick with a single fat32 boot partition and two ext4 partitions, one for Raspberry Pi OS / Ubuntu.I download the Raspberry Pi OS / Ubuntu images, mount them, and directly dd the rootfs partitions to the USB stick parti...

Re: Issues with StarTech.com USB312SAT3CB cable?

@bls: The USB3S2SAT3CB seems to be the USB 3.0 variant while USB312SAT3CB the USB 3.1 variant. I was assuming the latter which I bought is a newer variant. Both cables are mentioned on the JamesChambers website. @pidd: Actually lsusb does give the same output as you paste. I also had the impression ...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

A quick follow-up to the post above: Based on some more quick experiments I did, the problem seems to be a combination of weak WiFi signal strength and HDMI interference. I am not experiencing a complete WiFi lock-up at a specific HDMI resolution, but according to my experiments the presence of an H...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

Hi, I am having similar issues with my new rpi4 8 Gb model. WiFi does not work when using my monitor at its native resolution of 1920 x 1080. This renders my new rpi4 basically useless, which is quite a disappointment. Can this problem even be solved? This seems like a hardware issue. Monitor being ...
