Re: Bramble HPL (High-Performance Linpack Benchmark) results

Cracked 1 Gflops using 4 RPi over clocked to 900Mhz. If anyone else is interested maybe we could make a performance table on the wiki, top 10 brambles, kind of a nod to the top500 list? ================================================================================ T/V N NB P Q Time Gflops --------...

Re: Bramble HPL (High-Performance Linpack Benchmark) results

I am totally blown away with the performance improvement from ATLAS! T/V N NB P Q Time Gflops -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WR11C2R4 5040 168 1 1 274.87 3.106e-01 It did take ages to compile, over 24 hours, but 0.3 Gflops compared to 0.03 Gflops wit...

Re: Bramble HPL (High-Performance Linpack Benchmark) results

However most important for good Linpack HPL results is the BLAS library. I use ATLAS 3.8.4 from this source: http://www.vesperix.com/arm/atlas-arm/index.html Compiling ATLAS takes more than a day and cross compiling doesn't work. I'm trying to get a second RPI for some MPI games. Maybe you can also...

Re: Bramble HPL (High-Performance Linpack Benchmark) results

The RPI runs at 700MHz. Isn't then the expected peak performance between 350-700 MFlops? The MFLOPS is also discussed in this thread, they confirm 350 MFLOPS as the theoretical peak performance. http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=22362&p=211634 So in the best case it still takes...

Re: Bramble HPL (High-Performance Linpack Benchmark) results

On a single RPI I'm getting only 276 MFLOPS using this config Thanks for the sample config. Are you sure about your MFLOPS conversion. I stand to be corrected but 0.02803 Gflops /1000 for Mflops for 28.03, which is what I would expect for the pi. Initial runs on mine with same config but N: 2000, g...

Gentoo RPi Bramble up and running

Over the weekend I loaned a few mate's RPi and setup a beowulf style cluster of 6 running gentoo. Only major hiccup was compiling mpich2, had to hack the ebuild a little, once had a working mpi everything ran smoothly. The hpl package compiled and ran first time, which is awesome, so hopefully with ...

Re: gentoo image builder script

One of the things I've definitely done differently from the official raspberypi-userland ebuild is I install all the libraries and headers to /usr instead of /opt/vc. I really don't see a reason to use /opt/vc, esp since it's all built from source. The GL (etc.) libraries are also all managed with ...

Gentoo is a rolling distribution, meaning there's no real "latest Gentoo" OK, is the web page up-to date ?? Yes, the quick start uses the current and latest available gentoo. root # wget ftp://de-mirror.org/gentoo/releases/arm/autobuilds/current-stage3-armv6j_hardfp/stage3-armv6j_hardfp-*.tar.bz2 r...

Bramble HPL (High-Performance Linpack Benchmark) results

I just got my bramble setup (4 x gentoo +mpich2) with hpl benchmark running, albeit without great performance yet. Would be very interested at the results other people are getting on the hpl benchmark and what they have in their HPL.dat. Even guesstimates of how many GFLOPS a Raspberry Pi cluster ca...

Re: Ntpd and htpdate don't seem to work

I tried it with "apt-get install htpdate" , but it is saying "Unable to locate package" This command will probably work on debian based distributions. Are you sure you are using gentoo? Have a look at the wiki, it shows how to setup a clock on Gentoo. http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Raspberry_Pi_Quick_...

gentoo splash screen

After much fiddling around to get klibc to compile, I have got splash screen working on my gentoo raspberry pi. Possibly the most anti-climax video ever -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dgNb_iUCjc Looks like there is an issue with the klibc ebuild on RPi, will raise a bug with my work around. Then...

Re: Raspberry Pi official port?

A stock Stage 3 isn't really optimized for the Pi, as an embedded device its preferable to squeeze as much performance as possible out of the device as possible I must admit I have not used your stage 4 yet, but interested in what optimizations you have done? Is it anything beyond what is covered i...

Gentoo Raspberry Pi Kernel Compilation

Added a new doc to the wiki, http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Raspberry_P ... ompilation

Re: Raspberry Pi official port?

I would love to help and am trying to document more stuff on the wiki. Do you think there are enough differences from the default arm stage3 to justify a RPi specific release? Stage 4 is totally different story, I would love a stage 4 with java built that I could compile the latest xbmc on. Also har...

Anyone successfully got icedtea compiled?

I have got ecj-gcj-3.6 compiled which was a fair mission in itself.
In theory it should be possible to compile icedtea with ecj-gcj but all the available ebuilds give me loads of warnings then fail.

Has anyone got icedtea compiled (or have other java suggestions?).
