Re: Request: Minimal Raspbian image

We try and avoid too many official versions. Although I use stock Raspbian, and have never used the desktop (boot to console) so what we have now will probably fit the bill anyway. I understand the problems of version proliferation, but a minimal install would really just be a subset of the current...

Re: Request: Minimal Raspbian image

Though from that thread I did find http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 66&t=14728 the 100MB so called "Raspbian Server Edition", would be nice to see an official version.

Re: Request: Minimal Raspbian image

It sounds like that version still has a desktop, in fact it would be the same download size, they just eliminated the empty space from the file system.

Re: Request: Minimal Raspbian image

Also it would be useful if the download page stated the file size of each download.

Request: Minimal Raspbian image

It would be nice to have an "official" minimal Raspbian image that boots to command line. It would be good for servers, where a full graphical desktop + extras isn't required.

Re: Removing xorg from raspbian

I tried "sudo apt-get remove lx*" but this generated a massive list of things to remove that apt-get deemed dangerous to remove (a message I've never seen before). This list included things like apt and dpkg, which surely I don't want to remove? Just a warning for anyone reading this. That's becaus...

Re: RaspBMC vs Xbian = FUD and Slander

Are you saying that no other projects have permission to use that .DLL? license.txt is in usbit.zip. It does appear to be something close to the "BSD with advertising" or MIT license, but it doesn't explicitly state what the license of derivative works is. Without knowing any more, I would assume t...

Re: RaspBMC vs Xbian = FUD and Slander

Even if so, it is the owner of the project (XBMC, etc) who should be demanding that this happen. NOT a competing project. This is incorrect. The GPL states that every recipient of a program has the right to a copy of the source (not just the original author): "if you distribute copies of such a pro...
