in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf try setting exit-idle-time to -1. I found that a lot of the tutorials for a2dp receivers don't work right with the lastest versions of raspian. "Vanilla" mame has never supported linux. You need either xmame, sdlmame or advmame

advMame does not read key strokes from standard input, but rather it looks at all the keyboards that show up in /dev/input (in the order that they show up in /dev/input/event*). So you either have to make it look at that keyboard globally or configure the key events per game

so far I have been able to get advanceMAME working more or less playable, but only by dropping the frameskip in the config file down to 0.25. I have been unable to get the performance stable. I get a lot of intermittent slowing down. I am already running at 1ghz. are there any setting i should be using to get things working well. The games I have been trying are tempest and marble madness
