Re: RPi 3 Heatsink + Case combo (55'c MAX)

Would a 'negative' not be that the metal case would stop the Bluetooth and WiFi signals? Susan I actually ran those stress tests with this case using the onboard WiFi over SSH. Surprisingly it works fine. Although, as mhoney already mentioned, the WiFi range (strength) is slightly reduced, but surp...

Re: RPi 3 - Reduce power consumption and heat. Server usage.

Thanks for sharing. I am always looking for ways (such as sleepy pi) to reduce power usage with Pi. If performance isnt a factor, you can reduce power consumption further by limiting the max CPU clock. Setting the powersave governor will limit the device to 600mhz: echo -e "powersave" > /sys/device...

Why do the fbset - is it just to reduce the memory used?
RPi memory is shared with GPU. So by reducing the FB (framebuffer) size, reduce bandwidth used by GPU/FB: viewtopic.php?p=105008#p105008

RPi 3 - Reduce power consumption and heat. Server usage.

For server usage, power consumption and heat can be reduced on the RPi 3, without effecting performance. By lowering GPU related clocks, we can reduce the overall power consumption by 0.2W~ . As less power = less heat generated on the ARM, you should also see a benefit of reduced overall heat. We ca...

Is the addition of a HDD purely for storage or does it allow some of the filesystem (/etc, /var/, /log, etc..) , normally present on the SD card, to be moved onto the drive? Hi Phil, /var/log is mounted to RAM by default on DietPi, with DietPi-Ramlog: http://dietpi.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5&s...

Why HDD dismounted by itself ? how to mount it back ? And yes - some media files somehow found place on SD. Why is that ? P.S. After one hundred twenty nine hard restarts all mounted back. I thing I still need to clean media files from SD somehow.. This explains it really well: https://www.reddit.c...

RPi - Falling behind as a SBC?

We all love the RPi, it has created and inspired our youth generation. However, for possibly most of us, we see the device as a computer.
