Re: Linux Internet Connection Sharing Issues

Somebody suggested that I did IPv4 forwarding on the Ubuntu machine. I did it with this, alas to no avail.

Linux Internet Connection Sharing Issues

Following this guide on StackOverflow I have been able to connect my Pi to my Ubuntu laptop, using an Ethernet cable. This has partly worked; I am able to connect to the Pi using SSH and VNC, however I can't get the Pi to connect to the web. Whenever I try to use pip, wget, ping or even the web brow...

BUMP

Even with tape, it will not boot. The only way I can get it to work is if I press it down with my finger.

Re: Chipped SD Card Holder

There might be a slight problem with that method, given the fact that I may have lost that tiny piece of plastic.

Chipped SD Card Holder

Hello all. I was assembling my new Pibow a couple of days ago and noticed that I had accidentally chipped a small piece of plastic off the SD card holder. I go to use my pi today, and it will not boot. I have diagnosed that this is caused by the chipped SD holder, causing the SD card not to be level...

Adafruit Pi Cobbler or T Cobbler

I am an avid electronics hobbyist (as my username suggests) and have been wanting to do some prototyping and electronics stuff with my pi. Adafruit seem to have a good range of breadboard connectors that would work for what I want to do, however, I am unsure as to whether the standard pi cobbler boa...

Re: Best Cheap WiFi Dongle

You have no problems whatsoever with wireless on Linux? Every time I install a new distro, I have to find the right package for the wireless chipset in my netbook. I have come across only a few distros that give you 'out-of-the-box' support. you're doing something wrong there, maybe your distro's a...

Re: Best Cheap WiFi Dongle

Theres not much wrong with linux, all the wifi adaptors I've tried with Ubuntu on a PC just work, It comes up with a list of available access points, select one, type in the wifi Key and it goes. The Pi has a couple of problems, its lack of power means that the desktop on the Pi is limited as to wh...

Thanks a lot everyone, I think the Edimax is a safe bet. Just out of curiosity, are a lot of these so called 'nano' WiFi dongles based on the Edimax hardware?

Best Cheap WiFi Dongle

I am going to buy a Model B Pi very soon, and I have found that WiFi is going to be the only way I can connect my Pi to the internet. I have heard that there are a small handful of WiFi dongles that are actually compatible, for that reason, can anyone recommend a reliable and cheap WiFi dongle, and ...

Re: Running .sh program using python

I don't know anything at all about programming XBMC, but if you want to automate shell commands in python, I can show you how to do that. There is a library for python called os that will do this (you may have to download it, I don't know as I haven't tried it on a raspi) import os # Import the os l...
