Re: Controlling Canon PowerShot through CGI/Bash Script

if the script is interactive, you should be able to modify the script and hardcode the values it is asking for.

if you post the contents of the script maybe someone can help determine which lines need to be modified.

Re: Use dd to clone used content on sd card to an image?

to do image backups i boot up with a live-usb and run something like: dd if=/dev/zero of=/mountpoint/of/sdcard/clear-empty-space.zero rm /mountpoint/of/sdcard/clear-empty-space.zero umount /dev/sdb # assuming sdb is the device of the sdcard dd if=/dev/sdb bs=16M | bzip2 > /home/schneidz/sdcard.iso.b...

Re: What is the best way to send data from one Pi to another

Let's say I have two RPis, Apple and Banana. Both Apple and Banana are running Apache (if that helps). Banana has a DS18B20 sensor and I want Apple to be able to get that data. What is the easiest way in Python or a shell script form Apple to get that data reading from Banana? scp (edit: maybe sshf...

Re: Send an email when a file is created

Sorry for asking a stupid question but, am I supposed to put "on_movie_end echo ‘Webcam Alert’ | mail -s “Webcam Alert” [email protected].com" in the console or in the config? i would assume the config since on_movie_end isnt a linux command that i heard of (not sure about the software yo...

Re: Send an email when a file is created

I made a Raspberry Pi security camera and would like it to send me an email whenever a new video is created. The videos are saved in /home/pi/Motion and are .mpg files, if that helps. Also, I would like to find a way to delete .mpg files over 14 days old. Can someone please give me detailed instruc...

^ not exactly sure what you are trying to achieve (and why) but heres my stab at it: while [ 1 ] do if [ "$(ping -c 1 www.02144.com | grep '100% packet loss')" -a "$(ping -c 1 www.something.com | grep '100% packet loss')" ] then #sudo shutdown -r now sudo ifconfig eth0 down && sudo ifconfig eth0 up ...

Re: Wireless HiFi system airplay setup

I was thinking of roughly doing the same thing. I need a way to transmit video and audio to a remote television that cannot be accessed by wires easily. I basically want it to be on all the time and just be able to somehow transmit a signal on one end and receive it on the other. Maybe I can get a ...

Re: Wireless HiFi system airplay setup

you should install xbmc on your pi.

i use xbmc to send/receive streaming video from my galaxy s2 to my tv via dlna. not sure if it supports apple airplay but since it is based on dlna it is worth a shot.

i do this in fedora linux with my acer revo running xbmc... should work similar on windows or mac. if windows is still giving you problems perhaps you can test it out using a live-usb. the network-manager gui should be able to do it but i think commandline is more direct: http://www.linuxquestions.o...

Re: Run stuff on Boot

you can put the command in the users .profile or .bash_profile.

but the proper way to do it is to put those options in /etc/fstab.

Re: Shell Script on Login

if you want it to run before the gui starts (i.e.- before the user logs in) then putting it in /etc/rc.d/rc.local should work.

also, i think you can put an @reboot declarative in the users crontab.

Re: Auto reboot if connection lost

maybe put this in /etc/rc.d/rc.local:

Code: Select all

while [ 1 ]
do
 if [ -z "$(ping -c 1 www.02144.com)" ]
 then
  shutdown -r now
  #ifconfig eth0 down && ifconfig eth0 up
  #/etc/init.d/networking restart
  #dhclient eth0
 fi
 sleep 600
done
the commented part is probably all that you need

Re: Making an app

qt works with c as well.

your program seems more useful on the command line.

it would be easier for users to loop it to solve a list of 100's of numbers or pipe (|) it to filter or format the result which probably wouldnt be possible in a gui.

why do you wanna' make it into a gui ?
