Re: Motion stops after a few hours

Hi Joe4465, Is it possible to automatically restart a process, say every hour? RPi has one of the great *NIX features called cron : it's a scheduler that you can use to control any repetitive job with a granularity of 1 minute. The use of it is fairly straightforward (type 'man cron' for detailed ba...

Re: Motion stops after a few hours

trying to restart motion from init.d script caused issues for me. Not sure if it was because of my version of motion though. had to modify the init.d scripts, hopefully you won't need to though haha. Also there's a configuration file value - on_camera_lost which will run a command if motion picks u...

Re: Motion stops after a few hours

Hi, This is from my logs and shows the moment it goes down. [...] Any ideas? Could i somehow check for "uvcvideo: Non-zero status (-5) in video completion handler." and then restart motion? Thanks Joe Same here. Webcam hung itself up last night, sending the load to 1 (usually 0.05) for 5 hours. I wr...

Re: Headless raspberryPi with eth0+USB issue Register 0x0000

Already fixed in latest release Do you mean the latest kernel/user space release ( apt-get update && apt-get upgrade ) or the latest firmware release? I performed an update and a (fairly large in size) upgrade yesterday and reverted back to the original ls -l . The RPi seems to have become totally ...

Re: Headless raspberryPi with eth0+USB issue Register 0x0000

I've had the same problem for weeks now with my Pi running Raspbian wheezy and have tried various options to resolve this. [...] The key change that worked for me was to disable FIQ. I'm running 3.2.27+, headless, keyboardless, with a Sagem WiFi dongle ( Sagem XG-76NA 802.11bg , using module zd1211...

Re: Capture video from webcam without monitor connected.

Hi, It looks like this is why ffmpeg doesn't start up: [video4linux2 @ 0x1357220] Cannot find a proper format for codec_id 0, pix_fmt -1. /dev/video0: Input/output error I don't know enough about it to help you further there, sorry. Have you considered using mjpg-streamer or motion , to use with you...

Glad though that visible progress is being made on the USB stuff. It makes the difference between having a useful box for my Nestcam project or just a toy that'll disappear in a drawer.

Well, blow me down. That textbook-reply worked like a charm :)

I would have liked to know what the root cause was, but the update/upgrade was so large that it's probably too hard to do. Meh.

Re: Capture video from webcam without monitor connected.

Hi,

Do you get any logging output with 'debug' in stead of 'quiet'? Check /var/log/debug, /var/log/messages.

Re: Webcam only streams under system load

Hi dom,

uname -a reports: Linux raspberrypi 3.1.9+ #168 PREEMPT Sat Jul 14 18:56:31 BST 2012 armv6l GNU/Linux

My /boot/config.txt has all the vanilla settings, i.e. nothing has been uncommented and I do not overclock the unit.

Regards,

Webcam only streams under system load

Hi, This is my first post, I hope it's the proper subforum ;) I have tried a couple of different webcam streaming packages ( motion , mjpg-streamer , ffserver/ffmpeg/avconv ) but streaming is always very unsatisfactorily: low frame rate and often interrupted. The webcam itself, although cheap, can e...
