Re: Migrating from B to B+ and Ethernet not working

Thank you for the advice; I indeed do have a NOOBS install and I will be sure to follow the given advice. However, will this break compatibility with my previous RPi B if I choose to use it? Newer versions of NOOBS/Raspbian should be "backwards compatible" (ie. include all appropriate "firmware") f...

Migrating from B to B+ and Ethernet not working

Hi everybody, Merry Christmas! I migrated from my old Raspberry Pi Model B from three years ago (yikes!) to a brand new Raspberry Pi Model B+. I used the same SD card and image from my B and put it in my B+. Unfortunately, when I plugged in the Ethernet cable, it did not work like my old B. I have d...

LXDE is missing the bottom toolbar, aka the "taskbar"

I've tried deleting the config files so that it would regenerate - but now I'm stuck. What should I do?! :?

Re: 5.1-5.2V power supply?

So would a 5.25 volt power supply suit peripherals better or would a standard 5 volt supply work better? :?:

5.1-5.2V power supply?

It seems that the Raspberry Pi requires at least 5.1 volts of power to allow ethernet, keyboard and mice, USB, HDMI, and the SD card to even function correctly, without crashing everything due to low voltage. Is it safe? I need an expert to answer this, preferably Gert van Loo. Thanks! :D

Re: Power help

Alright, now my Raspberry Pi cannot find loader.bin. It's on the SD card. So, what should I do? Replace it with firmware from github?

Whilst we're in uber pedant mode, "dd" isn't much to do with BASH either.
Meh, mainly UNIX.

Re: Power help

No green light = SD card not img'd correctly Ah. I see. Win32 Disk Imager isn't working for me though. The device is blank. Also, how would I use "dd"? 'dd' is a Linux command, not available in Windows. Are you sure that your SD card reader slot supports SD HC cards? I do realize "dd" is a bash Uni...

Power help

Hiya, I'm using a Palm Trio phone charger, and it seems to be working OK, but there's no green light, just a red light. :x I tried to troubleshoot but now it seems to me I need to ask a few questions. 1. Does my charger supply enough? It is 5 volts and 1 amp. If not, what do I need? I will not buy t...
