Re: C vs Python for GPIO

But I wouldn't even need that if--and this is my second point--C had a foreach loop. I often find myself looping over the elements in an array, and would rather do it using the equivalent of a foreach loop. Unless I am missing something (possible!), could you not just use a for loop? for(i=0;i<=num...

Re: Raspberry Pi Research

I believe Raspbian uses ext4, so the Wikipedia article would be a good start (it'll give you the basics, but make sure you keep looking after).

Re: I sent a suggestion to Maplin...

I'd say just order them from Farnell or RS, the only other places I've seen that sell them have increased the price by £5 or so.

Re: Raspberry Pi Research

A good start would be the OS documentation, that will give you a starting point for things like the file system. If you're more practically minded, just get an SD card reader, fire up a hard (or software) write blocker and have a look around with Encase or FTK. I haven't had a chance to examine it p...

Re: Should it take =/= 30 seconds to compile 'Hello World'?

Hm, thought not, thanks.

I think it might be a power issue, the only mouse I've got to hand is a gaming mouse, and the keyboard has a load of lights, so it's possible they are drawing too much. I'm going to try and find a powered hub and see if that makes a difference.

Should it take =/= 30 seconds to compile 'Hello World'?

I've just got my Pi, and as a test, wrote a four line 'hello world program' in C, which I compiled with GCC. As the title says, it took about 30 seconds. When I've tried using the GUI, it is so slow as to be unusable, the CPU bar is maxed 98% of the time and applications take several minutes to open...

Re: So: who's got a rev2 board?

The big question is if anyone gets an older board after today. Me - I ordered from Farnell on Friday evening, it shipped Tuesday and arrived today. I'm in the UK, so a bit disappointed I didn't get a Rev2 board, but oh well. Seems like it might be luck of the draw at the minute, at least until they...

Re: Wow... 5 days from order to shipping from Farnell

That's promising! I ordered mine from Farnell on Friday evening, shipped yesterday. If your experience is anything to go by, I should get it tomorrow or Friday!
