Re: video playback with gstreamer is choppy / laggy

Another update with another failed attempt to make things better: The version of gstreamer I'd been working with thus far installed from the apt packages was an old version: % gst-launch-1.0 --version gst-launch-1.0 version 1.14.4 GStreamer 1.14.4 http://packages.qa.debian.org/gstreamer1.0 So I trie...

Re: How To: Wifi to Ethernet Bridge(Updated for RPi 3)

I've had great results using this article to configure wifi to ethernet bridge on a raspberry pi 4: https://willhaley.com/blog/raspberry-pi-wifi-ethernet-bridge/ This guide keeps everything on the same subnet, which is nice. Here I wrote a bit about my experience using this setup: https://github.com...

Re: video playback with gstreamer is choppy / laggy

Here is a video of the graphics glitches that are occurring for me, in case it is enlightening for anyone: https://photos.app.goo.gl/b6FPuphAbMKdCgTMA The glitches start happening at timestamp 0:42 and continue until the end of the video. The time at which the glitches occur appears to be fairly ran...

there are different types of buffering available, but at default, I don't think they set any. check out the user manual for buffering with gstreamer: https://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/documentation/application-development/advanced/buffering.html?gi-language=c#stream-buffering I've liberally sprinkl...

Timeout calling ALSA's snd_mixer_selem_set_playback_dB_all

Hi there, I'm experiencing frequent timeouts calling ALSA's snd_mixer_selem_set_playback_dB_all. Usually this takes ~2 milliseconds, but occasionally it can take ~10 seconds. Audio will drop out for ~10 seconds when this happens. I am using a raspberry pi 4 B: Raspberry Pi OS Release date: March 4th...

Re: Slow wifi on one out of three raspberry pi 4 models

There have been recent changes to WiFi Firmware and fully update / upgrade of RaspiOS is important: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/raspbian/updating.md https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=117 Wow, it looks like maybe I was right that it had something to with the channel wi...

Re: CYW43455 (3B+, 4B, CM4) WiFi feedback thread

Hi, just wondering if there's an estimate on when this new clm_blob file will be released more generally and out of the "testing" phase? If I understand correctly, it is not yet available by upgrading raspbian -- it still has to be manually applied for now. https://www.raspberrypi.org/docu...

video playback with gstreamer is choppy / laggy

Hello, I am trying to use gstreamer to play a 1080p H264 video. When I play the video, the playback is slightly choppy / laggy. Here is how I installed gstreamer and the required plugins: sudo apt-get install gstreamer1.0-tools gstreamer1.0-plugins-base-apps gstreamer1.0-plugins-good gstreamer1.0-pl...

Re: Slow wifi on one out of three raspberry pi 4 models

Hi Dave, sorry for the late reply. I merely changed to a less crowded wifi 5ghz wifi channel. I did not have good results changing the channel width. Reducing the width from 80mhz just made things slower. Changing the wifi channel seemed to get me good results, but your mileage may vary especially i...

Re: Slow wifi on one out of three raspberry pi 4 models

I believe I have solved my problem. I live in an apartment building with many wifi networks. There is a lot of wifi interference, but by selecting a less used wifi channel, I was able to make this slow wifi problem go away. Still, it seems the raspberry pi is perhaps more susceptible to wifi interfe...

Re: Slow wifi on one out of three raspberry pi 4 models

Upon further investigation, the "slow wifi" problem is not limited to a specific raspberry pi. One of my three raspberry pis will generally be affected at a time, but if I reboot my router, a different one will be affected. Restarting the pi has no impact -- when the one with slow wifi reb...

Slow wifi on one out of three raspberry pi 4 models

Hello, I recently purchased three of the raspberry pi 4 2GB RAM model. One of them has much slower wifi than the other two. All three raspberry pis have been set up identically, using Raspberry Pi OS Lite: % uname -a Linux piwall2 5.4.83-v7l+ #1379 SMP Mon Dec 14 13:11:54 GMT 2020 armv7l GNU/Linux T...

Re: [SOLVED] Pi inaccessible from network after a while

I've been experiencing the same problems on my raspberry pi 3B+. Basically if I continuously run my raspberry pi, after several days to several weeks, the problem starts. My raspberry pi has the IP address 192.168.1.100. Symptoms: * I can no longer ssh to the pi from any device on my network * I can...
