xcode/geany makefile

I have a c/c++ project developed with Xcode on a mac, but I would also like to build it on my raspberry pi. Is there an easy way to create a makefile, then build the same multiple file project via geany?

Are there any lightweight and simple IDE / compilers out there for Linux or even RisOS? Borland turbo pascal and QuickC sort of thing.

How would the Raspberry Pi perform as a dedicated DVD backup machine? Does it have enough power to run apps such as handbrake in a reasonable time?
