Re: Can PI2B run youtube video's at 1080p 60fps?

Kodi does not support 1080p video (at any framerate) from YouTube due to lack of DASH support . As for 1080p video at 60fps on Raspberry Pi 2 (not from YouTube), such as this Big Buck Bunny clip playing with Kodi or Omxplayer, this is not officially supported. However, it can be done with considerab...

That sounds like overscan settings. Try this in a Terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo raspi-config
You can enable overscan under "8 Advanced Options", then reboot the Pi.

We spend enough time licking the **** of the Americans. I work in the IT industry and I manage to buy all my stuff in £s. Sorry, I'm a grumpy old sod today and I was never endeared to the Yanks at the best of times. If the Pi is popular enough in the States, they could always open a Pi factory ther...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2, the $35 mini computer.

As far as I know, production is still running at maximum, so any availability issues are just down to demand. Which is pretty cool really - means the Pi2 is selling like hot cakes, and is still selling like hot cakes after some months. I suspect Eben is quite pleased. Given the exceptionally high d...

Re: [New User] Can Raspberry Pi do this?

You can do that with a bit of simple Python (or a variant of BASIC if you want to go old-school). There are many tutorials available. Clicking buttons to calculate also requires building a simple GUI. It's often easier to begin with simple command line input when building such a program, then add a ...

Original Raspberry Pi Model B's (either 256MB or 512MB models, that's the major revision change) will definitely work with a micro-SD card too using an SD adapter card, such as this.

Re: wolfram-engine dependent on libharfbuzz0a

You could always just wait. The next release will still come with wolfram-engine and it will be jessie-based, so this 'problem' will just go away. Is there any timeframe for this next release? (Hopefully that will also fix compatibility issues with HW-accelerated Web/Epiphany on Raspbian Jessie, in...

Re: Poor student

Leafpad supports UTF-8 and is a very lightweight plain text editor included with Raspbian. Gedit and Pluma also run well on the Pi 2 as more advanced text editors. For a full word processor I second LibreOffice Writer. There is also Abiword available. As a philosophy student you might also be intere...

Preconfigured Ubuntu 15.04 image with extras

I have uploaded a preconfigured version of Ubuntu MATE 15.04 for Raspberry Pi 2 here (1.4GB RAR download for compressed 4GB image) . This image is already configured and boots immediately to a functional desktop. It was configured to British settings (this can easily be changed in locale settings). ...

For the last command sudo update-java-alternatives -s jdk-8-oracle-arm-vfp-hflt it says command not found? You can try this instead, selecting jdk-8 from the text menu. Does this work? sudo update-alternatives --config java I found that workaround here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1574...

Re: wolfram-engine dependent on libharfbuzz0a

I made the same observation some time ago when I installed Jessie. Would it be possible to force Jessie to install libharbuzz0a from Wheezy for now? It's possible to force the install of libharbuzz0a from the appropriate .deb file(s), however that would clash with core software on Jessie which depe...

Hi, I've pushed the changes up to github and pypi.python.org in v2.3 so the __init__.py file shouldn't need editing for a new install. If you've an old install you can update by $ pip install pi3d --upgrade obviously this hasn't been tested for very long so if you find any kind of error let me know...

Re: Howto: setting up Pi 2 Ubuntu MATE with Raspbian softwar

I can't explain why this didn't work for @Mequa, possibly the system had got confused by making and breaking symlinks. Anyway this method should avoid that. (I will tidy the catching of exceptions and try to reduce error messages!) The demos seem to run ok with sudo prefix. I tried this fix on a ne...

Alternatively, instead of adding the symlinks as you show, users could edit /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pi3d/constants/__init__.py and change lines... I tried it. Still no luck. Re: Guide for setting up Pi 2 Ubuntu MATE with Raspbian soft

There are copies of libEGL.so and libGLESv2.so that "come with" the pi, they're propitiatory libraries in /opt/vc/lib/ as far as I'm aware all the examples of OpenGLES functionality in /opt/vc/src/ (NB it seems odd that you put symlinks to /usr/lib/ - is that where they're put on MATE?) as well as ...
