Re: UK Government: Children to be taught programming

<t>Coming from an 18 year old, I really wish they decided this much sooner, or rather never decided to abolish it in the first place. Throughout my entire IT education we were never taught anything about hardware, or anything more advanced in software than learning how to use Microsoft Office. In fa...

Re: Gigabit Ethernet

Maybe I\'m not understanding something here...but who needs more than 100 Mb/s on a $25 PC, and more importantly, how many people even have 100 Mb/s in the first place?

Re: Will you get the A or B? Why?

I need the B model since I\'m not going to get a USB hub, and I seriously don\'t think even I could cope with 128MB of RAM.

Re: Do i need to programm the Ras-pi before i can use an OS?

Hold on...if we can't boot from a USB, then what is used to install the OS onto the SD card?

Hmmm, I guess you're supposed to use a different computer? Just remembered that my brother's computer has a card reader, no problem.

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting that, but it should still be fine. I'm guessing it doesn't support booting off a USB?

<t>Quote from meltwater on November 16, 2011, 11:51<br/> Are there any indications about what size SD cards will be suitable, I know it's OS dependent and the R-Pi supports a few. <t>- Doom series. Doom 3 would really be pushing it, but you might be able to run it on very low settings. I believe it was made open source recently. lol, it dips to 9 FPS and sticks in the teens most of the time, those aren\'t \"playable\" frame rates at all...but it\'s still pretty impressive for what it is. ;)

Re: No OS news?

<t>I can't see why people are worried about RAM usage...I guess it'd be pretty tight on the 128MB model, but I ran Arch Linux with Openbox on a ThinkPad T30 with 768MB and it only used about 60-80MB (without any tweaking), and I'm pretty sure it only even used that much because it scales according t...
