CM4 datasheet, chapter 3.1:
Stacking height either:
a. 1.5mm with mating connector (clearance under CM4 0mm) : DF40C-100DS-0.4v
b. 3.0mm with mating connector (clearance under CM4 1.5mm): DF40HC(3.0)-100DS-0.4v

Re: DSI driver for custom screen

Turns out there are two Nexus 7 screens. The better one is the 2013 model. Nexus 7 2012 (Gen 1) has LVDS interface, Nexus 7 2013 (Gen 2) has DSI interface, ie completely different interfaces. CM4 doesn’t have LVDS interface and you’d need HDMI-LVDS, DPI-LVDS or DSI-LVDS IC to make adapter for N7 20...

Will be worth following up on that 5 or 3V supply.
A simple switching one would lower the heat issues, if needed.
Panel works from 5V, so 3.3V reg is not needed.
Rev2 schematics also has GPIO expander, eliminating need for 3 jumper wires: only 5V and 22pin flex needed to connect panel.

Re: USB 3.0 CM4 reference design VL805-Q6

Has anyone ever attempted to create an own VL805-Q6 board? I have own custom carrier with CM4 and 2x USB3.0 ports @ VL805 and EEPROM flashed via PCIe Since the one from the Pi 4 won't work It DOES work same way as on Pi4 can I just clone one from a random VL805 PCIe card assuming they aren't using ...

Re: Is just a ethernet port "enough"

The big adventage would be that I could design the board with only one Hirose connector. As far as I remember it was mentioned here that using one Hirose connector is fine. Is it cost optimization or it feels like you’re not sure if you can solder connectors within positioning tolerance? Try it any...

Is it possible that the IO board died as well?
3.3V was shorted to 5V. There is a small chance that USB hub is damaged, since absolute maximum voltage is 4.6V. RTC seems to be fine with 5V on a rail.

Hello everybody, I'm developing a PCB that includes a CM4 for an integrated experiment and I was asking myself if just a ethernet port is enough or if i need USB aswell. We will use a I/O board to do the initial setup of the CM4 and just need ssh access to the system after that to alter some python...

Re: How To Disable On Board Wifi and Default to USB Wifi

Thanks. I see. So this will NOT disable wifi in general?.. only on-board? I figured one would have to specify the device in some way. Description clearly states it’s onboard WiFi: https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/blob/master/boot/overlays/README#L685 You don’t have to specify particular WiFi...

Re: Raspberry Pi CMIO4 -> MIPI display - pin confirmation?

I bought a Chinese IPS screen, and as usual, the docs aren't very helpful. I made this quick reference and would like to know if my assumptions are correct. Unnamed pins are either GND or NC. I want to connect the display to my CMIO4 board, on one of the DSI connectors. The display does not have to...

Pinouts are the same. It’s only an issue for that particular Gumstix board, as they don’t have SD card connector

It is very irritating that DSI_0 has SCL1 &SDA1
And SCL0 and SDA0 belongs to DSI_1
DSI/CSI0 and DSI/CSI1 have to have different i2c buses, otherwise you can't control identical cameras/displays

Re: CM4 w 8GB RAM: What retailer has stock/deliver by what date?

There is additional issue that some CM4 versions are sold only in higher quantities (>200), I think it applies to all 8GB RAM variants. So not many vendors would stock those even if they are otherwise available. Only approx. half of version combinations (emmc/ram/wifi) are sold in single quantities...

Re: [SOLVED] DSI Panel JDI LT070ME05000 bringup issues

This maybe a little off topic here as this is a DSI thread but these displays tend to come with a capacitive touch digitiser attached. Unlike many the controller is not part of the panel but on the USB charging board of the Nexus 7. The controller chip it uses seems to be a custom job and not avail...

Re: CM4 carrier + 14500 battery?

If there's no reason not to, I'd use 18650 cells instead. Cheaper and more available, in capacities up to 3.6Ah. When doing your capacity math through a boost converter, assume at best 80% converter efficiency. Yes, the 18650s are very nice but a bit big for my purposes. Am I correct in that the SW...

There is only one USB controller that can work as USB host or USB device. - 1B+ using USB as host for USB hub + Eth, data pins on USB connector are NC - Zero exposes it as USB OTG - 4B+ has USB2.0 on USB type C connector, host ports made via VL805 on PCIe, Ethernet via dedicated controller on SoC - ...
