You can slow down the dma transfer to the sdcard a little with:

Code: Select all

echo 31> /sys/devices/platform/bcm2708_sdhci.0/dma_wait
I'll give this a try, cheers.

Re: Overclocking

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3669512/temp/kernel_sdcard.img has a kernel with a new command line parameter: sdhci-bcm2708.cycle_delay=1000 allows you to get the number of cycles delay between writes to sdcard peripheral registers, in case that is the problem. Please test if it helps. OK - sorry I'm not...

Re: Overclocking

We've had problems with corruption on the FAT partition since day 1. The fix to use multiple sector writes a month or two back seemed to fix it for almost everyone, although I think there are still occasional problems. I can consistently corrupt FAT by simply raising the core above 250 still. No re...

Re: Overclocking

I don't think the firmware version makes any difference (other than the config settings that are now built in) It's core speed that is causing the problem from every test i've done. There is a suggestion that people were successfully overclocking the core before the cpufreq driver came out and not ...

Just a confirmation from further testing with these values: arm_freq=1100 core_freq=250 gpu_freq=333 sdram_freq=400 over_voltage=8 force_turbo=1 current_limit_override=0x5A000020 Rock solid in all tests for me - including a full apt-get update/upgrade + rpi-update (which always killed it before!) Re: Overclocking

Hi, I've done quite a bit of testing with this last night. And for me - It's ALL about core frequency. I can run reliably with my Transcend class 10 card with these settings: force_turbo=1 current_limit_override=0x5A000020 over_voltage=8 arm_freq=1100 sdram_freq=400 core_freq=250 Perform the usual C...

Re: Overclocking

I don't think it's anything todo with dynamic overclocking - i've been using force_turbo since it was added - and i can corrupt my /boot partition on the class 10 card effortlessly when overclocked.

I will try just upping core and then just arm to see if I can isolate it tonight.

Re: Overclocking

I can consistently corrupt the root partition by scanning my xbmc library, the thing is my library is on a mysql server on another machine. Only explanation I have is the cache writing to the card is corrupting it. From earlier testing (before dynamic OC) I found that changing OC settings had a hug...

Regarding the SD corruption that dom has been investigating - I too have had the problem with config.txt being corrupted and the system failing to reboot. I'm glad to find this thread, and will add the new parameter to my configuration tonight. What I did find was that if I edit config.txt or run r...

If there's any other settings I can try or other suggestions I'll give them a go...? I will spend some time this evening seeing I can I identify which overclocked setting that makes it more likely to corrupt the card i.e. arm/core/volts. I've committed a kernel fix to use the system timer for udela...

FYI i was still able to eventually corrupt the FAT partition doing rpi-update (it managed to get through an apt-get update+upgrade no trouble first, so much better certainly) but it's not quite there yet i think. Re: Overclocking

OK I'm giving it a bash (hah) now with the setting you suggested and it's MUCH better! So far no corruption!! Again up to arm1100,core500,dram450,ov8 - so right at the max settings I appear to be able to get away with.

Thanks

Re: Overclocking

I'm using forceturbo so I assume that won't matter? I also have a Kingston class 4 card with an identical image that I'm about to see if i can reproduce the issue on - i'm testing up to arm1100 ovolt8 with that also. Is there anything that can be one to "tame" the class 10 cards if it does prove to...

I've been seeing the same kind of issue (corrupted config.txt) and failure to rpi-update (broken filesystem in /boot) on what is an otherwise completely stable overclock (quake3 and background cpu tasks no trouble for hours). Sorry that's a duff copy/paste line - it's then end of the gcc that is building invaders. The rest of the error shown is pasted correctly, yes it's building on the pi (where else? :) )

I'm using the rpi_noX platform option if that makes any difference...

I had the same issue after a few kernal crashes and reboots during my overclocking experiments, fixed from backups fortuntately. Seems it's quite easy to corrupt the sd card. I've managed it twice now
