Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Bluetooth Setup

OMG, will try this ASAP. If this works, you will be my hero!! Boomer All: It appears some early version of the RPI3 may need a firmware update for the Bluetooth hardware to work. Like others on this thread, i have experienced the same problems including the failed install of the bluez-firmware and b...

Re: piTFT Does NOT Work With Pi 3

From what I've read, it won't work with the Pi3 for now. Adafruit needs to update their code. Sorry you didn't know....

Re: Pi 3 Bluetooth question.

Lots of people, including me, are having the same problems with the Pi3's on-board bluetooth. Seems to be some kind of unacknowledged bug. Some people are using a 3d party bluetooth controller and disabling the on-board one. I sure hope it gets fixed, one way or the other, soon.

adless). Has anyone figured out a simple way to play audio files through a Bluetooth speaker? I'm totally stymied at this point. Pi3 Bluetooth Issues -- Magpi 44

Recent article in Magpi issue 44 got me all excited about trying to connect my new Pi3 to a Bluetooth speaker. The guide made it sound so simple. In reality, I couldn't get it to work. Speaker wouldn't connect with the built-in Bluetooth manager. The guide suggested installing pulseaudio, which I di...

Re: Incredibly basic question

Was trying to follow a project on Make Magazine to control an LED strip with OpenHab. Pursuant to the instructions, I created a directory "/opt/openhab". Later on, I need to create a subdirectory call "/opt/openhab/configurations". When I tried to create it with CyberDuck, I got the permissions erro...

How to access root directory on a Mac

Following a tutorial I found online, I installed net talk on my Pi and run afp from a terminal window on my Mac. I can access the "home" directory from my Mac, but not the root directories. Can someone tell me how to access these directors? I'm totally stumped.

Thanks,

Jack

Incredibly basic question

I have the new Raspbian Jessie distribution installed on a new Raspberry Pi 3. I am trying to create a subfolder in an existing directory and when I try to do so using either the desktop GUI file manager or CyberDuck, I am unable to do so. Both return an error that I don't have permission to create ...

Re: RPi 3 - Apple Magic Keyboard

Sigh. I see we are still on the bleeding edge. Was going to post to see how to connect my Apple keyboard and found this thread. Guess I'll wait for the inevitable software update that will solve this problem. I'm not going to invest an hour of time trying to figure out how to make it work. I had hop...

Re: Display no longer working -- How to trouble shoot

Thought of that too. Tore everything down, reattached the cables, made sure I had a good copy of the distribution and separately powered the display and the pi. The screen now works!! Not sure which step cured the problem, but glad it's cured however. My only problem now is that the display is upsid...

Re: Display no longer working -- How to trouble shoot

Might be a power supply gone bad. Can you try another? Tried that. Have it running on a good HP barrel supply that outputs 2 amps. Also thought I might've corrupted the SD card so I reformatted it and rewrote it with a new download of Jessie. Still nothing. Screen glows but is blank. Even tried tak...

Display no longer working -- How to trouble shoot

My display had been working great on Raspbian Wheezy. After a few months' hiatus, I tried to use it yesterday and the screen would glow but not display any information. If I connect an HDMI cable, I could see everything on a monitor. Thinking Jessie might run better on the display, I rewrote my SD c...

Ugh. I just did the installation on my display. I'm getting a little tired of the bleeding edge. Think I'll wait for a simpler solution before updating. Stream music using bluetooth?

I've put together a couple of projects now that permit me to use my Pi to play Pandora and internet radio streams through a speaker connected to the 3.5 mm jack. Does anyone know if it is possible to use a bluetooth dongle to stream the music to a bluetooth speaker and, if so, how to do it?

Thanks.

Re: New web browser - it's here!

I was able to get Epiphany to run and enabled the HTML5 player for Youtube. Videos will play, but just barely. Video is jittery and sound is scratchy and annoying, at least through my HDMI connection. I guess I should be impressed that I can play anything at all on a $35 SoC, but I wouldn't exactly ...

Re: Windows asks to repair disk

FWIW, this happens to me all the time when I put an SD card into my PC to back up the image. I just let Windows (version 8) "fix" the problem. Doesn't seem to affect the performance of my SD cards.

B+ and Webcams

Sorry if someone has addressed this already, but do the power handling changes made in the B+ result in more webcams working with the B+ than was the case with the B? I must've tried two or three webcams and could never get them to work with my Bs.

Thanks,

Jack

USB Power problems persist in B+?

Managed to get my hands on a B+. 4 USB ports makes the upgrade a no-brainer. I am a little disappointed, though, that despite all the talk about improved power to the USB ports, I'm still having all kinds of problems with my keyboard. Only have a keyboard and wifi adapter plugged in but keyboard con...

Re: I'm about "Pi'd" Out

Appreciate all the thoughts. This is happening on several different Pis and with several different SD card brands, all of which are listed on the "working" SD card list. In some cases, I have been fine until running the "update/upgrade" sequence. I can get all the new files and reboot fine, etc. How...

I'm about "Pi'd" Out

I'm just about done with my "Pi Adventure". I've corrupted about 5 SD cards by this point. I think the Raspberry Pi is a great concept and I guess I must just be doing things wrong, but until someone figures out a way to prevent SD cards from corrupting and/or to restore corrupted SD cards, I'm done...

Re: Anyone else having problems updating their SD card image

Ran chkdsk on the SD card and the program returned no errors. I'm OK for now, but will be seriously at risk when the occasion calls for the "update/upgrade " combo (like to try out the new beta of the browser). Sure wish I knew what was causing the crashes. Different Pis, cards from different manufa...

Re: Anyone else having problems updating their SD card image

Will do. I don't think it's the card because I did a low-level format before rewriting the image. I just added a bunch of stuff to my configuration and have no problems shutting down and restarting. Everything's fine as long as I don't use an "upgrade" command. I would love to know what's causing th...
