Re: Building applications with Nice GUI

guizero is probably want you need. it's aimed as a low barrier for kids to knock up gui's for their python apps and is pretty good. i'm currently using it for a couple of programs that i want guis for

it takes as long as it takes. there are only so many mods and normally a hundred or so 1st posts a day that need moderating on top of standard moderating duties and post replying to we do try to approve sooner rather than later but it isn't that unusual especially over the weekend, during holidays o...

Available for preorder at microcenter in the USA

The google AIY is available for preorder at microcenter for pick-up at the end of October. I spoke to someone at microcenter and they said that soon it'll be available with a shipping option rather than pick-up so those without a microcenter near them will be able to get it. http://www.microcenter.c...

Re: cd Documents Should Not Work?

no cd Documents is correct as the Documents directory is in your home directory and when you open a terminal or login you are in your home directory

cd /Documents would be a Directory called Documents under the root directory

Re: Flick demo's won't run

it's ok it's a simple mistake to make. they mean that the flick board doesn't require soldering. they assume (and we all know what that means :) ) that the header is already soldered onto the pizero as well you can't attach a pHat without the pizero having a header.

Re: Flick demo's won't run

i'm not quite sure what you mean. did you not solder a header onto the pizero? you just rested the header on the holes?

could you post a photo?

you do need to have a header soldered on to the pizero, well soldered or hammerheaders.

i'm a bit flummuxed to check there aren't any weirdnesses between the phat and hat i switched my flick hat for the phat and no errors or anything. the only thing I can think of to try now is to do is to try a fresh sd card, do an apt-get update && apt-get upgrade and do a fresh install of the flick ...

Re: Flick demo's won't run

the installer should have enabled i2c but that would be the 1st thing i'd check (after checking that the flick board is installed correctly e.g. the pins are lined up correctly and the board is pushed down enough) sudo raspi-config then go to interfacing options then select i2c and enable and after ...

The two Microcenters in the Atlanta area have them. A day or so before you go there you should probably reserve 1 for in-store pickup so you know that there will be on waiting for you.

Re: Does Ethernet gadget mode still work on Raspberry Pi Zer

YMMV but i've found the only way I can get gadget mode to work for a freshly made sd card is to either do the 1st boot & let the resize happen, power off and then edit the config.txt & cmdline.txt files or remove the resize part of cmdline.txt and resize using raspi-config. I've not heard of others ...

personally i've never had a problem using win32diskimager on win10 however i moved over to using resin.io's etcher a while back and had no problems with it at all and I believe that etcher is now the recommended software to use to create sdcards for the Pi on macs, windows & linux

the micro sd slots directly into the Pi however i'd pick up an adapter anyway (50% of store bought micro sd cards come with one in the packaging anyway) as most (all?) desktop/laptop only have an sd card slot and not a micro sd card slot
